The Chinese embassy's tweet against the Turkish opposition leaders' tweets about Uighur independence is facing a backlash. I don't think I need to translate these but there is quite a bit of nationalism. There are a lot of posts mentioning Xiongnu victories against ancient China.
I wonder what's Xiongnu relationship with Turk or Uyghur or Xinjiang?
I first learned about Xiongnu when many years ago I watched the TV series of the 2005
Great Emperor of Han Dynasty 汉武大帝 (Han Wu Da Di) -- Emperor Liu Che (born name); Zhang Qian, the great envoy to the Western Region and the great historian, Sima Qian...
A fascinating tweet by Tursunali @Tursunali_7 on the history of Xinjiang:

Today, I’m trying to post a long tweet to briefly talk about my views on Xinjiang’s religion & history:
First of all, Islam is not a traditional Uyghur religion
Uighurs have a history of more than 1,400 years, while Islam has entered Xinjiang for less than 800 years!
China implements a policy of freedom of religious belief. This means that everyone can choose their own religion instead of being forced to be a "Muslim" at birth
Third, in modern society, the actual role of religion is difficult to reflect. Many young people r more willing to spend their time & energy on making money, traveling, and enjoying life.
The ethnic composition of "突厥" [Turkic ethnic group] is very complicated, except that it has nothing to do with the ancestors of Uyghurs, "Uyghur"
