How disgraceful... A Chinese woman fell into a river drowning and dozens of young and able Chinese people just watched and recorded with their cellphones before an old Brit went down to save her. And he happened to be a diplomat... the opportunity was so perfect I'd suspect it was staged but what does it matter when so many Chinese people refused to help?

I'm sure some Chinese nearby would have helped if they had diplomatic immunity or was at least a foreigner who could leave the country at any moment. The Chinese legal system is a complete mess. Safer to minimize any activity that could give rise to real or perceived liability.

There are hundreds of drowning incidents each year in China that many people jump in and try to save the victims. As long as it is not staged, people should be thankful for the help. Not sure why anyone should be sour grape. I can find dozens of videos that have Chinese saving the drowning.

True but if China had a more just legal system more people would have been willing to help.

China does need a comprehensive good samaritan laws to encourage more people to do good deeds. But I don't think trying to save drowning is an issue. You need to be a good swimmer to save someone in the river. Otherwise, you would not save them. Each year I have read a few news article of how a young man tried to save drowning and got themselves killed in China.

Didn't Biden recently say that he will repeal all of Donald Trump's decrees on Jan. 21?

"The Trump administration believes the new moves will leave the incoming Biden administration boxed-in."

But this is why I want politics back to the old where everything is done under the table and no one is paying attention.

CEOs will support Biden on this.

Bystander effect.

Counterintuitively, if there's a bunch of people able to help out in a situation, each person is less likely to help out, since s/he presumes that somebody else will jump into the lake/run into the burning building first.
