This guy on his own figured the landing velocity was too fast, what a room full of Indian scientists couldn’t, amazing.
Modi was there so there were probably some that knew.

I don't know who this guy is commenting through live stream of the Indian lander but you can see him know something's wrong before most of the crowd does. I think it starts around 02:21:00.
At 2.92km (2:21:20) above the moon surface, the display graphic was showing the lander at an upside-down position. From then on, the lander quickly went off the planned trajectory (as shown by the red line) by quite a bit.
Looks to me a landing control failure of the lander. At no time did lander show itself to have stabilized itself in a vertical position (zero horizontal and vertical speed) for the soft landing.
I noticed that too when the lander was coming in too steep and you can see the guy has a reaction but then there was applause and he thought everything was all right.
What I don't understand is why everyone was clapping when the lander hadn't even landed yet?
You gotta hand it to Trump, he knows how to run a reality show.
I think they were applauding every successful step.

That's really weird.
