i don’t see why China shouldn’t restrict the best AI either and it’s not just because the Europeans might ban Chinese AI as Germany has banned DeepSeek, but because there’s no point giving your finest goods to ingrates who think they’re superior to you even as they wallow in faeces like Indians do.
China's best AI doesnt automatically mean its the same one they're giving for free. Theres no reason China couldnt restrict the best AI AND give out 2nd best to the west for free to kill their own AI ROI

Theres an assumption that the best China can do is beat the best availible in the west, when actually the best they can do is beat the best availiable in China, public or not, which itself can be well ahead of what US has

What exactly is “wrong” with his views, in your opinion? Why don’t you at least provide some direct quotes with proper context instead of making inferences?

“However, the broader challenge lies in streamlining the visitor experience. For travellers from countries that still require a visa, Beijing should consider overhauling the application process, such as eliminating visa appointments, waiving the fingerprint collection for low-risk applicants and reducing fees.”

Chinese embassy in India has done exactly this which is why there is a large Indian influx into China.

“I’m sure China has greatly relaxed rare earth exports for India because both leaders of China and India have stated that we are not rivals; we are partners, we are collaborators. This rivalry really contaminates the world.”

Wants to relax rare earths exports to India. He thinks India is a friend of China. Maybe he should tell India to leave China containment group QUAD, stop selling Brahmos missiles to China’s rivals, stop stealing Chinese corporate assets, stop being sneaky and undermining China’s influence in BRICS.

He’s also a big advocate of China’s K visa (similar to the H1-B). China’s STEM talent is struggling to find jobs and he wants to bring in more visa holders like the West is doing. He actually went on Indian TV during the K visa discussion and told Indian students should consider applying for K visa instead of H1B in the US.

I watched a video of him where he advocates relaxing China’s technology transfers to India. He wants to build up a rival because of short term profits or appearing to be friendly to India. India already gets tech transfers indirectly.

“To sidestep political hurdles, Indian companies have increasingly signed agreements with subsidiaries of Chinese firms in third countries such as Singapore and Vietnam. These deals often include technology transfer provisions while avoiding direct scrutiny.”

Looks like a Western worshipping Trojan horse. I hope he does not get any sort of traction in China policy space.

The man needs to be deported back to his alma mater, the University of Toronto. The dude lived in Canada for a bit as well after his stint at UofT.

Andy Wok works for his think thank, and so does Victor Gao (Vice-President) - which is not exactly your "pick me" Chinese academic.

I don't put a lot of sway into your accusations that somehow Wang is so Machiavellian that he was or continues to infect the policies of China right underneath the noses of some of the smartest and toughest S.O.B.s in all of politics?

....

Referee of Egypt-Argentina is Francois Letexier who is a French Jew.
I’m not surprised he favoured Argentina so blatantly considering how pro-Israel Argentina are and how much Egypt hates Israel.

It was blatant robbery.
will Fifa do anything, or will there be a sports court case thing?

He was appointed by Chinese Premier Li Keqiang in 2015 as a counselor to the State Council.
Not sure if he’s still advising. But his think tank could still be influential in policy discussions right now. Most governments make policies based on think tank reports. He definitely had an influencial role under Li Keqiang but not sure if it’s changed under Li Qiang.

I was surprised Victor Gao works for his think tank.
