To add to that, Russians see Ukraine as an integral part of their national identity, so there is a will to fight on their part despite heavy losses. The Iran War was started by Trump with no formal declaration and is already deeply unpopular from the getgo. Outside of a quick sugar rush of patriotism, there is zero tolerance from the American public for this to become a war of attrition. This goes too for the servicemen and women already deployed there, who don't have the post 9/11 revenge/idealism motivation and are already being affected by low morale and fatigue. The problem is that the Russians are fighting from their huge country, so logistic is less than an issue for them. The US doesn't have land near Iran and none of the bordering countries are entering this war. So the US is in a logistic nightmare.
Putin, through a combination of oil revenues and whatever unsavory methods he has at his disposal, is able to preserve some modicum of stability. America is deeply polarized and Trump has more to lose than ever with his legal issues and association with Epstein. There's also the personal dimension, in that with his age and ego Trump is definately obsessed with his legacy, and for now its shaping up to be a pedophile and the man who got America into its worst military disaster since Iraq. Long story short, if the Iran War lasts into Fall, America will likely face not just economic recession but perhaps the worst political instability it ever faced since the Civil War.
