Heh, as if NATO hasn’t already tried that. Problem is most cruise missiles would just get wasted by Russian AD and would have to contend with Russia’s much larger and vast territory, many parts of which are literally too far to reach, even with the most advanced cruise missiles.

They just know it would seriously waste their own cruise missile reserves, ruining any tiny chance they have to even try snd fight China over Taiwan. Plus it would only serve to force the Russians to better allocate, defend, spread out and secure their assets, enrage them further, and trigger bolder, more aggressive attempts to sabotage western countries and support their enemies. In addition, it would just be one less escalation they could make and one less card to pull, making it harder for them to keep threatening Russia and continue their usual sabre-rattling. Would also be more difficult to claim they weren’t giving it their all when Ukraine falls anyway.

But it’s funny to see them try to spin it around and make it look as if they’re holding back their true, “monstrous” power out of the goodness of their heart.

First of all, this is the internet and there's anecdotal evidence from everyone without verification of identity. Russians were quite friendly to me in Kazakhstan and in my studies in the US.

But this all views things from the wrong perspective. Whether a certain people naturally like another people or if they're brainwashed into preferring other cultures or if we have personal differences are all incredibly small and meaningless in the global power struggle. At the governmental level, Chinese and Russian leaders have agreed that we must stand together against Western imperialism; it is a battle for survival and we are partners if we are smart, potentially both dead if we are not. Personal feelings and preferences have no place here.

To keep things simple, if you are confused, always do what your enemy fears; never do what he wants you to. Here, it should be abundantly clear that Washington fears a Sino-Russian alliance and would like to see us split, for whatever foolish and self-defeating reason possible.

LMFAO that is the smallest stupidest personal reason I've ever heard in forming preferences on a matter than shapes the world. Russia attacked Ukraine; it did not attack Germany. Your country chose to get yourself into this mess; your leaders chose to be an enemy of a Russia that is your main power source and to obey the country from half the world away which gives you nothing but demands you sacrifice everything. It is your leaders who are entirely at fault for your suffering and your continued suffering.

My father once said that how you live your life is largely determined by very few but very large decisions you make; those you see living a miserable life may work hard every day but they likely made mistakes when the pivotal choices were put before them (ie. whether to complete your education or go to make money now, whether to marry the woman who loves you or the woman who drains you, etc...). This is Germany now. You have made the wrong decisions at the points that matter the most, so you must suffer the consequences. Evict American influence; eject from NATO. Partner with China and Russia. You will have all the energy you need for your industries and all the goods you need for a high quality of life. Blame your politicians for your woes by choosing the exact opposite of what will make you thrive.

Remeber what Ai Weiwei said about speech in the West vs in China, how while in the West you can say whatever you want but it doesn't matter what you say. His sentiments are a reflection of that. Whether consciously or subconsciously, he feels that his sentiments and actions can affect a faraway country more than his own government, that bringing about changes in Russia is easier than bringing about changes in Germany.

Western Digital runs out of HDD capacity: CEO says massive AI deals secured, price surges ahead

Western Digital faces a severe HDD capacity shortage as AI and enterprise demand surge, driving prices to a two-year high. With cloud revenue at 89% and consumer share at 5%, WD's storage focus shifts to cost-effective HDDs for massive exabyte-scale data centers, highlighting critical industry supply constraints.

Western Digital has said that it has run out of HDD capacity, while its consumer share has dropped to just 5% as enterprise and AI eats up storage as if it were oxygen in a tiny room.

We all know about the insane AI demand that has been eating up all of the DRAM supply, but we've been warned for months that mechanical HDDs would be affected... where we wrote a story just a few months ago that HDD prices surged to their highest point in 2 years with demand coming out of the US and China alone.

WD CEO Irving Tan said during the Q2 earnings call: "As we highlighted, we're pretty much sold out for calendar 2026. We have firm POs with our top seven customers. And we've also established LTAs with two of them for calendar 2027 and one of them for calendar 2028. Obviously, these LTAs have a combination of volume of exabytes and price".

Western Digital's VP of Investor Relations said that the company's cloud revenue accounted for 89% of total revenue, and its consumer revenue accounted for a measly 5%. AI needs data and it needs a LOT of it, with cloud service providers all using HDDs which are more cost-effective and more efficient storage medium than SSD.

The data scales into the exabytes and beyond for data centers, with scraped web data, processed data backups, inference logs, and so, so much more. WD running out of HDD capacity is just nuts.

Time for the 128mb consumer HDD and 16mb consumer RAM combo.

Man they really need to figure out DNA storage or maybe stop building so many data centers and instead focus on edge AI or medium-sized language models instead of terabyte scale models.

Come to think of it what will they do with all of these electronics once their lifetime expires will they just buy new ones for quadruple the price, the economics doesn't make sense unless they are gonna get government subsidized.
