Needless provocation from Turkey. Historically, the ancestors of Turkey, the Oghuz Turks, hailed from modern Turkmenistan, east of Aral Sea and far from Xinjiang.

But modern Turk revivalism efforts attempt to link to an even older Gokturk state which was a loose confederation of nomads on the steppe between Korea and Ukraine.

And who drove them out? It wasn't any Chinese group. It was other Turkic groups and Mongols.
Oghuz were, mostly, local Turkmen vassals of Gokturks, Khazars, and various other Turkic confederations.

FYI: The Soviets/Russians are actually the ones who invented the fake name "East Turkestan" with the malicious intend to replace the original name of the region which is "Chinese Turkestan" (or Ancient name: Xi Yu), so that they can sow discord among Chinese people. You can also easily look this up. All these are to achieve their greedy territorial ambitions and to balkanise China. Not to mention the original terrorist group that formed the modern-day ETIM terrorists is actually first created and funded by the Soviets to destabilise China so that they could influence and invade the area. They did the same to Outer-Mongolia and Outer-Xinjiang and succeeded. This is a well-known Russian playbook for territorial expansion since the very beginning. There is absolutely no such thing as "East Turkestan" other than a bullshit Soviet fabrication. Just go search and read up about the "Soviet invasion of Xinjiang". The Soviets/Russians are extremely imperialistic and that is a fact.

Also btw, Mongols are also Chinese people. They had Sinicized since the Yuan Dynasty, which is before Ming.

Also yes, Pan-Turk nationalism is cancer and very very harmful to society. And funny how these delulu people absolutely hate Russia until they need to start borrowing their bullshit "East Turkestan" narrative they had invented for their own benefit.

Western or rather the outside world in general is very ignorant of Chinese history and somehow always gets fooled by stuff that not only can be looked up but stuff that doesn't make sense when you think about it.

That's how they spin these narratives.

Did you know the Tibetan Empire collapsed coz of Buddhism? They had their own folk religion and didn't like being replaced with a foreign one. This lead to civil war that basically meant Tibet would never again be even a regional power. Tibetans are believed to be descendants of the Qiang.
