We need to lock up all vinegar factory owners like we're protecting Gaokao exam papers—for national security...
I think the majority of China's vinegar actually comes from one really big SOE, that bottle from above post is one of theirs.
A few years ago when I was back in China I decided to visit their factory in 镇江 for fun. The factory was enormous. I raised a question to the tour guide about competition from those Northen Chinese really sour type of vinegar and she goes "actually those are made by us too, we have a big factory up in 山西 making that type of vinegar".
Their vinegar making is like the most well known thing about 镇江:
Says right there in the encyclopedia! I figured maybe they would be worried about competition but turns out they're got it all in the bag. They're like the Standard Oil of vinegar. This type of aromatic vinegar has a pretty unique process where the rice wine produced in the first part of the process has to be oxidized inside a solid mix of rice husks and other ingredients to soak up the flavour, and those has to be turned daily to allow even oxidation. This big SOE has some years ago invented a machine with many paddles that can walk itself along a long trough to do this instead of requiring men with shovels so although the factory is huge due to all the urns of vinegar that's aging and whatnot, the amount of man power required is actually pretty low for the area that the factory takes up so it had a very empty feel walking around.
The fact that strategic (and in this case not so strategic) industries in China are dominated by SOE makes sanctions a lot easier to carry out.

For people who only care about the optics, they are bizarrely obsessed with defending the officer's conduct that ended up with a dead woman.
The logical thing is to just throw the officer under the bus to protect the institution. Which I guess leads me into the next question,
Is the whole point of protecting the officer because they want to normalize ICE officers being able to apprehend anyone they want, and shoot anyone who does anything they don't like?

Regarding what happened in Minneapolis... the ICE officer shot first before brushing on the car and in the woman's face, so it's sort of odd to claim she did it intentionally with malice. Also if you saw the vehicle after the accident, you can clearly see a bullet hole in the windshield driver's side lower corner. So the officer was firing when there was another officer next to the door trying to open it. He clearly endangered his fellow officers he was supposedly protecting when he fired. Also there was an account that said the ICE officers were both yelling to the woman that was killed to move her car and to stop at the same time. I guess we'll probably hear audio come out to see if that's true. Here's the thing... we're already hearing the government telling everyone what happened just like with the Charlie Kirk assassination. Case closed.

Still a world class supper power shouldn’t have these things happening when they are basically declaring war all over the place. Especially when the number provider of materials and parts basically said screw you guys, we are going home and your not getting shit and good luck on your current crop of Maintenance crew because due to the current capabilities of the U.S. education, they wouldn’t have enough people to help the when shit goes south
I did a quick check. That vinegar is owned by Jiangsu Hengshun Vinegar Industry Co., Ltd., but the history is a bit complicated — I have a link here.
The company is a state-controlled enterprise, and its ultimate controller is the State-Owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the Zhenjiang Municipal People’s Government(镇江市人民政府国有资产监督管理委员会). The Shanxi one you mentioned is actually one of their subsidiaries.
And, as a half-Shanxi guy, I must strongly protest this.
Their vinegar is not that great.
Ours is.
