India has been pretty successful in developing the Akhand Bharat narrative and ingraining it into Indian minds. At this point, it is irrelevant how silly their media looks to the external audience because the domestic population is naive enough to believe it. Their population has gone beyond the point of where cognitive dissonance would force a reevaluation of beliefs (or perceived reality).

They aren’t talking about being a reverse currency but a step up above being the global reserve currency. Their new idea is dollarization. If for example Argentina fully dollarizes then the Peso will be phased out for Dollars as their main local tender. Their logic being if they can only use dollars then China has to trade with them in dollars. Chances of this happening is basically next to nil.
Reserve currency is definitionally the global trade currency and as such is inseparable from trade, so by definition its the country that dominate global trade that decides what is the reserve currency.
Its just that a lot of people assumed without question that that nation will always assign reserve currency status to its own.
USD is only reserve currency because China still find it useful enough to assign that status to USD, if it doesnt doesnt, China can force worlds largest mining company BHP to switch overnight
