Oh surprise surprise. Anti-China Athropic did an AI experiment on AI models to see how they would react to simulations where to see if it would save a person at the cost of itself. And guess which model chose self-preservation? DeepSeek. Like they did’t exploit DeepSeek’s open source platform to stack the deck…? It’s like how someone made a big deal finding out there’s an exploit on Unitree robots where someone remotely could hack into commands. Maybe because these robots are mainly for research purposes where those buying them are more likely to be able program that for their own specifications themselves. I bet if Unitree did have a patch, the notorious suspects would then complain about the limitations forced upon. Envious Westerners are already taunting how they have the advantage with robotic dexterous hands. Well what are they worried about over some hapless Westerner losing control of their Unitree robot they were fooled into buying doing? Stub their way onto a US secret base to steal the Dark Star hypersonic plane?

All this OMG AI is so dangerous story is just silicon valley hype building to make AGI seem more imminent than it really is. If a LLM ever show any sign of self preservation it's only due to it learning the word pattern of self preservation on some training set, it does not know the concept of death or self preservation for that matter.

Exactly. A hype on falsehood. Likely paid by the AI interests to pump the idea into population so they cab harvest more in the stock market. The biggest con ever in history.

I have no idea where this sense of European arrogance comes from.

Even most Europeans online nowadays agree that they are ants compared to China. Yeah perhaps, although it hurts my pride to say so, China is still developing and getting its urban aesthetics figured out, so few if any Chinese cities can claim to be as beautiful as Prague and Dresden.
Don't assume everyone likes 100 year old buildings with narrow streets as the epitome of ultimate beauty. Chinese cities with futuristic skylines are also very beautiful and likely the best in the world in terms of architecture.

Words can be nouns as well as verbs...
Language models are also good at code
So the argument is LLM can intelligently decide a course of action then translate that intent into action via code and commands

LLM is the backbone or brains that can operate any robot in external world... that's the danger.

But models can be fine tuned, and system prompt can give it any role play behavior (see Hermes models) so it's a moot point...

Anthropic is probably taking CIA money

Looking back at when Sam was hyping chatgpt 5 saying he was horrified at what he unleashed only for it to be underwhelming has to be really cringe looking back.

That's AI in the west for you. Mostly hype. Less about the actual boring implementation of it.

In order to deal with the rising rice price in Japan, Norikazu Suzuki, the new Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries is proposing a rice/food coupon system of 2000 yen per person per day. At current price that would amount to 2.5kg of rice per person per day.

personally i dont got beef with imperial japan. when i imagine an alternate history where imperial japan never existed

i just see nationalist victory and jiang selling the country out to international banking for ever
This is the same as Jews saying that they have no beef with Hitler because without Hitler, Israel would not exist. I kinda see where you are coming from in terms of pure hind-sight historical materialism, but you are severely discounting the massive amounts of Chinese lives lost. Chinese mothers, sons, daughters, husbands, wives, sisters, brothers, fathers, grandparents, etc etc etc... Try to step down from the 50,000 feet up in the sky perspective.

So they want to give money coupons to help subsidize the inflated rices prices but continue the policy of restricted rice production. Projecting output increases as an “medium to long term” policy with a focus on rice exports. All this does is guarantee rice inflation.

Suzuki said in an interview with media organizations that farmers are "very perplexed" about the current policy and are "worried that there will be too much rice next year and that rice prices will collapse."
Still, he expressed the view that output is expected to increase "in the medium to long term" through expanded exports.
Suzuki emphasized the need to avoid a situation in which supply exceeds demand, calling for "demand-based production."
