If you understand why Nobel gave the price powers to the Norwegian Alltinget it becomes clear why it's a despicable anachronism:
Norway was a junior party in a personal union with Sweden who had largely pursued a policy of neutrality for the better part of the 19th century (Swedens last war against another state - prior to the war against Libya in 2011 - had been the subjugation of Norway to unite the Scandinavian peninsula and create as safe borders as possible in pursuit of future peace.)
But Norway became a founding member of NATO and the prize should have been abolished in 1949.
