What kind of "trade deal" is this? Does China really cares if Chinese students are allowed to study in the US or not? It looks more like a wishlist from the American side. So far, the only thing that has been agreed upon seems to be some kind of "frame work", whatever it means. Let's wait and see.

Think of it like fishing. If all you do is reel in, the line will snap and you won’t get anything but small fry. To catch the big fish you need to give as much as you take to keep them hooked.

Rare Earths is like a death move. Use it too hard too soon and you risk forcing the US to escalate to military action immediately as their whole MIC will basically collapse otherwise.

Also, don’t take everything Trump says at face value. How many times has he made boastful claims that came to nothing?

There appears to be some slight relaxation on RE from China, but it sure as hell won’t be the ridiculous wet dream wish list Donald reeled off.

Well who knows what the deal really is? Trump has to make it look like he won. China already has been accommodating for the last several decades where there was an understanding that China was going to be used by US politicians to blame while nothing actually changed. What Trump's team that went to London are saying is not as simple as what Trump is "tweeting". But then they're only talking about on the US side which is just removing the sanctions Trump just imposed in the last couple weeks. So if you look at it that way it's just returning to what was apparently agreed at Geneva. The US tariffs on China does nothing really to China. A 55% tariff that US companies and consumers will pay. When the US economy gets hit, that's their problem. They were saying before that a 10% worldwide tariff was too much. US businesses will still suffer. Just like they found out China isn't easily replaced by lower-wage countries when it was 145%.

War with Russia.
War with Iran.
Now we just need War with China.

The United States is on high alert in anticipation of a potential Israeli strike on Iran, with the State Department authorizing the evacuation of some personnel in Iraq and the Pentagon green-lighting the departure of military family members across the Middle East.
The State Department recently ordered all embassies within striking distance of Iranian assets — including missions in the Middle East but also Eastern Europe and Northern Africa — to convene emergency action committees (EACs) and send cables back to Washington about measures to mitigate risks.

has there been an official statement from China? It's hard to take anything Trump says at face value.
The post just above yours is the official statement from China. You can see that there is no difference in China's position between this one and the previous one.

The key expression of China is "Two sides engaged in in-depth and honest exchange". As in Chinese deplomatic jargon it means “two sides can not reach agreement, full of quarrel, deep disagreement on almost everything." In Chinese deplomatic language only positive words are to be interpreted literally, neutral words often mean negative in politeness. For example when China says "I respect your choice", it actually mean "I disagree but it is your choice ...", or "we should mutually respect each other" means "don't fuck with me, mind your own business".

China's track record is that they have caved to Trump many times before in the first term. They did the trade deal with Liu He that was completely unequal. They did the ZTE deal. This time the 30 vs 10% deal is also unequal.

Even if in the long run China has gained by adapting to US actions but the fact of the matter is China keeps bowing down to US atleast publicly. That's not good.

No deal has been made yet. Trump just lied through his teeth, again.
