Why the hell is mexico training it's cadets in a sail boat? Doesn't make sense. Are they this docile due to US power that they have resorted to 18th century technology?

Mexico has 1.4 trillion dollar gdp, they can easily build a really good military if they want. This is just laughable

Believe it or not, the PLAN as well as several European (German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, even Royal Navy) and South American navies have sail boats used for training as well.

They are probably just taking after the US, in order to be SupaPowa, they have to copy the behaviour of a Superpower.

Be as belligerent as possible and force others to acquiesce, art of the deal and all that.
The US still gives out carrots even if it has a much bigger stick.

India is more like Israel in the sense it feels entitled to everything while giving nothing.

Actually even Israel might not be as bad because they are merchants first so they know how to hedge their risk.

Despite the massive Indian diaspora, I don't see much influence. Remember H1B reform? Dead in the water. Indian "influence operations" mostly revolves around spamming people with hate on Twitter. Doesn't seem very efficient.

Honestly, China's influence in the West is minimal too, but at least Chinese people are aware of this and don't go on deluded rants about their influence in the diaspora. Indian megalomania really is unique.

And speaking of India, how can we stop China from trying to prevent India's inevitable rise?

The truth is much more simple. China's human capital is simply vastly higher than India's. The few elites India produces mostly just emigrate anyway. But Noah seems to have a very US-centric worldview where a country's industrialisation is dependent on the good graces of larger countries. This is a weird leftist narrative which divides people into haves and have-nots, or oppressors and victims. Strange to see it coming from neoliberals like him.
