based on this aren't we in 1933, since the Liberation Day tariffs are just getting started and we have yet to see the consequences? I would say that the deportation so far are more like the opening of Dacau in 1933, a test case of extra judicial power.

In case you missed it, President Trump just directed Governor Bukele to begin construction of "five more places" in the soon to be American territory of El Salvador, if the Salvadorans are so blessed!

Nothing says land of the free more than sending U.S. citizens and legal residents to foreign max security prisons.

El Salvador is not only honored to incarcerate America's unwanted foreign criminals, but looks forward to intaking America's unwanted domestic criminals as an acknowledgement of its remarkable advancements and achievements in human rights!

On a more serious note, while the US isn't a party to the Rome Statute, El Salvador is and therefore subject to ICC jurisdiction.

If Trump isn't careful, a hostile far left successor might try to

at the rate things are going, and Trump won't look as pretty in the Hague as he did in Georgia.

The reason they do this is because U.S. rights are not guaranteed on foreign soil. Kinda like how they could get away with all sorts of shady shit at GITMO, except worse.

Correction, prison is for criminals with sentences, kidnapping people off the street without trial and sending them to a camp where no one comes out alive is just genocide.

America is going back to its roots, the nature of their kind.

Americans have as much rights as their courts has power to enforce them, which as should be obvious since day one, has always been none.

Building death camps on US soil will see no resistance. Sending them to El Savador is purely because its cheaper.

Reducing, if not averting due process is definitely a part of the formula, especially as it cuts red tape, which in turn reduces all sorts of administrative and operational expenditures.

However, what's even more impactful is that incarcerating prisoners in a third world country is not only cheaper, but it's also terrifying to all sorts of domestic audiences.

What better way to subtly intimidate domestic critics than to threaten them with incarceration in a prison in the exotic and malaria infested jungles or remote and inhospitable mountains of Latin America?!

America isn't actively pursuing genocide in this instance. That would require clearer intent and more effort.

America, especially the Trump block, wants to deport unlawful foreign migrants quickly, easily and mercilessly, even if it means some (or a not so insignificant number of) lawful immigrants and/or otherwise innocent parties are harmed in the process.

It's really an act of frustration.
