Trump pauses Mexico tariffs for one month after agreement on border troops
Lmao, as if the Mexican government could control the cartels and stop the flow of fentanyl and illegal immigrants, literally their biggest businesses. That's not happening. Trump's clownish theatrics.
Let’s be real, it’s more accurate to say the cartels control the politicians in Mexico, not the other way around.
And the Mexican army that’s supposed to "guard" the border under Trump’s plan? That’s the unofficial biggest cartel in Mexico.
This could just be their power move to grab even more socio-political influence inside of Mexico, also taking a bigger cut of the trade for themselves while pretending to crack down. I’d give it a 1% chance of fentanyl or illegal immigration stopping.
Plus, cartels have hundreds of thousands of members operating in sophisticated smuggling networks across rugged terrain.
How is 10,000 soldiers supposed to stop that? The US-Mexico border is 1,954 miles (3,145 km), so that’s only 5 soldiers per mile.
That’s a joke. Unless Trump begs and gets China-level high-tech surveillance, there’s no way they’re securing that border like China has.
If they can’t fix the deep-rooted societal decay that drives people to consume drugs in the first place, then the only real way to secure the border externally is with China-level efficiency and organization.
