They never really were influential the last 8 years it was mostly the US that made them influential. You could see this with them fumbling their Iran dealing. Or posting fake news regarding scoring Qatari energy deals after having sanctioned Russian energy.

Militarily we have seen Ukraine wouldn't be surprise if European arms manufactures become parts manufactures that will supply US arms manufacturers.

Only tech Europe still has a small lead is tech that was perfected pre 2010 think Airplanes and ICE vehicles. They don't really do high end semi conductors for Europeans if you want to make it big in software you learn to get Hired by US bigtech either locally in Europe or willing to migrate to the US. Once you have earned enough you might decide to go back to Europe and enjoy slower pace of development.

Daddy US doesn't agree bruh...
Its like a tragic love story that ends well for Russia because they have China
but Europe ended up as a impotent raging alcoholic in the gutter.

Europe becomes the unhinged "divorced dad/mum"
Europe did have potential to make a comeback, but mostly due to the USA and its selfish tendencies such as sucking up all the potential for themselves not to mention their future planning capability is nonexistent, there really is no way to go but down. The USA quite frankly is the worst thing to ever happen to Europe given it takes all of Europe’s flaws and literally makes it a by partisan policy to be applied to the rest of the world which like Europe will sooner or later end up blowing up in their collective faces if they fail to see and try to fix this issue but then again, neither Trump or Biden can reverse this trend which is bound to go from very bad to terminal in just one more election cycle if all those train derailments and the bridge falling down can testify

Problem with Europe is imho that Germany under Merkel kept centralizing power and gobbling up every bit of influence in Europe, from everywhere - France, Italy, Greece, the newer EU members, and it was all geared towards a strategic resource-industry alliance with Russia.

But then all that influence passed into the hands of an inept Scholz. Combine that with the cutoff of cheap resources from Russia, and that centralized power became very easy to manipulate for the Americans. All they have to do is keep control over Germany, and by extension the rest of the (mainland) Europe will follow. France is trying to play some sort of a game too, but again, it's hampered by an inept head of state.

That's not fair man. Indians like Chinese comes in many different shapes and sizes. Also, we shouldn't be disparaging some of their people even if it's just tongue and cheek commentary, it's beneath our standards.

Personally, I wish nothing more than for India to improve its economy so that it's billion plus people can have a better life and look forward to a better tomorrow. We all deserve that.
I agree. I hope for the best for India.

I also find some of the anti-Indian sentiment here puzzling. Let us imagine that the USA didn't exist and China initiated armed reunification. Would India go to war against China because of Taiwan? It's hard to imagine that happening, even if the Indian military were as strong as the PLA today.

Now let us imagine that India didn't exist and China initiated armed reunification. Would the USA go to war against China because of Taiwan? Definitely.

On China's most important priority - India would permit reunification even today, but the USA would not.

I also believe that the USA will eventually turn against India, once India becomes the world's third-largest economy. Many Westerners already think India is dirty and harbour a quiet, strong dislike of the many increasing Indian white-collar workers in their countries. When that day happens, the Asian continent will truly be united and the world will have taken a great step towards equality and justice.

What do you expect? I rather have those dumbass Chinese get deported back to China than those people from various places in Latin America. I don't understand the criticism here coming from you. The notion that western politicians, especially American politicians, and a Democrat are NOTHING MORE THAN A BUNCH OF HYPOCRITES should not be a shock to anyone of us who lives in the west, least of all from people here that are in America.

Asian voters rarely even vote in the Federal election, nor involve themselves in the political affairs of the state for obvious reason(s) CHINA THREAT THEORY, fear of the yellow people etc. Only South Asian country folks can fully express and exercise their American rights in voting and becoming a loud and proud corrupt American useless politicians. See the current most anti-China congress person for details.

Also, the one thing that's hilarious and actual lie comes from these "lovers of democracy, and freedom" HANJIANS and other Asian sub groups. They almost never involve themselves in actual voting process actively nor they share such enthusiasm in the American political process. One would assume that for such groups of people that proudly proclaims their love of democracy that they would and should actively participate to help shape and build their chosen country to become stronger and lend their voices they do f...k all. But ask them about the See See Pee or how bad China was to them, they'll be the first in line to do so. Pathetic and cowardly bunch. Then they cry ASIAN HATE? LOL
The white Jesus was supposed to protect them against all those Asian hate once they go MAGA.

Is there anything they haven’t threaten China yet? So when do the Americans start demanding China to dismantle their cities and rebuild rural mud huts because they threaten western profit margins.

U.S. ready to sanction Chinese banks if they aid Russia’s war machine, Yellen says

The United States is prepared to sanction Chinese banks and companies, as well as Beijing’s leadership, if they assist Russia’s armed forces with the invasion of Ukraine, U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said Monday.

“We stand ready to act if we see significant violations, especially by financial institutions,” Yellen said in an interview with CNBC’s Sara Eisen in Beijing. “Anything that involves aiding Russia’s military in their brutal war against Ukraine is unacceptable to us and we have the ability to sanction it.”

President Joe Biden issued a new executive order in December that vested the Treasury secretary with the authority to sanction financial institutions that aided Russia’s military-industrial complex.

Yellen said the Treasury Department has “not used this tool yet.”

China is “entitled” to have a relationship with Russia, she said, noting that much of the trade between the two countries is seen by the U.S. as nonproblematic. But the provision of military aid from Beijing to Moscow could trigger sanctions.

Yellen has been in China for several days already, meeting with officials including her counterpart, Vice Premier He Lifeng. The Treasury secretary arrived in the city of Guangzhou on Thursday and traveled to Beijing over the weekend. She is scheduled to depart for Washington on Tuesday.

Yellen was tasked with delivering a tough economic message on the visit, one that placed U.S. interests first while also seeking to stabilize the fraught diplomatic relationship between the world’s two remaining superpowers.

Yellen raised U.S. concerns about Chinese overcapacity in the green energy industry like solar panels, electric vehicles and lithium-ion batteries.

Washington alleges that Chinese government subsidies for these products have vastly outpaced its domestic demand for them. If Chinese manufacturers can’t find buyers for their green energy infrastructure at home, they might choose to dump their cheaper surplus products onto global markets, and price out other companies.

Chinese state media and officials have publicly denied this, though Yellen said that in her meetings, officials “understood that this is something that’s very important to the U.S.”

Yellen did not rule out the possibility of higher U.S. tariffs on Chinese imports, if China failed to address these concerns.

The overcapacity issue is among the many trade tensions that have characterized the U.S.-China relationship in recent years.

Former President Donald Trump’s initial round of tariffs in 2017 effectively put economic and trade cooperation on ice for several years. Biden has maintained many of those tariffs throughout his first term and has threatened to raise some.

Biden met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in California last November in an effort to thaw relations and reestablish high-level communications between the two governments.

“That’s what we’re trying to do,” said Yellen. “I feel our relationship in this economic sphere is in a much better place” than it was a year ago, she said.

5 reasons for irreversible decline

  1. Uncontrollable debt
  2. Low student achievement
  3. Increasing income and wealth inequality
  4. Loss of identity and patriotism
  5. Widespread belief that the political system is broken
The article reveals a peculiar detail not often seen in media,

This is dumb. Social security and Medicare have claims on all future income to pay out future liabilities. It’s “unfunded” in the sense that money isn’t in a bank account in DC today but it’s reasonable to expect it will be there for decades in the future (since people will be working and earning money).

this is as silly as saying a corporate bond is an unfunded corporate liability while ignoring any income the capital project will itself generate
