Iran is a pariah in a large part of the world.
But Iran's other relations doesn't have anything to do with China. On the flip side, it further galvanizes them into doing something useful later, by fighting.
Ethiopia is landlocked and just went through a devastating civil war
In other words, they aren't going anywhere except up since they've hit rock bottom. Especially when Chinese firms can move in.

It's not like taking in these countries cost China anything, furthermore, they can be used to spread influence to nearby countries as well.

Brazil wants allies in BRICS. China is stomping all over America's backyard. Argentina might not have a future without BRICS, but you can't say that is the case after they join BRICS.
Good point but Argentina like Pakistan doesn't have competent system in place to run their economy without constant aid they're used to handouts and may become a liability to BRICS, Iran make more sense for all their faults they still have a decent industry and resources not to mention their strategic position there will be Western objection but no point in addressing it their concern with China today is rooted in fear of losing white privilege it's an emotional argument and you can't do anything to satisfy it you'll be vilified anyway might as well choose the option that's best for your interests.
