“China’s national security authorities on Monday released details about the case of John Shing-Wan Leung, who holds permanent residency in China's Hong Kong SAR and a US passport, and was sentenced to life in prison on espionage charges, including acting as an informant of the US intelligence agency, conducting spy activities for the US under the disguise of charity. Leung was awarded by the US with meritorious medal for his spy activities”.
Thanks Mr Burns. See if he didn't go all public with "we're rebuilding our intelligence network in China" then in such cases they'll be busy saying China is arresting innocent Americans. But seen as he went to brag about it now they can't complain".

I'll predict that when the US finally accepts that China can make its own advanced semiconductors, they'll offer a deal to China that they will spin as great when it only works for the US. The US will lift sanctions on China buying advance semiconductors, but not the best ones, because the main point is they want China back to buying their semiconductors so their companies can money again. In exchange for that "great" deal, China will have to abide by US sanctions on other countries it doesn't want to get advanced chips, i.e. Russia. Basically the only ones that can buy Chinese semiconductors are China because the US will still impose restrictions on Western companies buying and using them for national security reasons. So in the end the only thing that will have changed is the West gets to make money again on what's going to be a pre-determined number of advanced chips China is expected to buy so the West can make money again.
Yep, the strategy of "Keep ASML in, SMEE down, Russians out", just like the

of keep US in, Germany down, Russia out....all the while making it appear US is a benevolent hegemon doing China a "nice favor". To US domestic audience, it would be portrayed as keep the dumbass Chinese dependent/addicted on Western technology fentanyl, keep significant US profits/jobs, and more money for US R&D to continue US technology leadership (from Raimondo horse face herself)

Instead, China is the largest semiconductor market in the world, so the negotiation power is with China, not with US. China should: "keep Huawei in (the game), TSMC down, and Micron completely out"

China and Iran should have naval escorts for oil shipments to stop these pirates. You allow these pirates an inch, they will take it a mile.
All the more reason for China to keep jacking up the rate of pumping out more high seas-capable (HSC from now on for ease of typing) warships into the coming years and decades.

(For note: In this post, HSC warships refers to the AEGIS-type destroyers (052C, 052D, 055) and modern-type frigates (054A) in the PLAN.)

Right now, China has 79x HSC destroyers and frigates in active service with the PLAN.

(For reference, the USN has 87x HSC cruisers and destroyers at present).

Based on whatever information that we can get our hands on so far - By 2027/2028, there should be ~100x HSC destroyers and frigates in the PLAN.

In the meantime, I think China should seriously consider procuring of surface combatants that are generally light-displacement, cheap-to-produce, easy-to-operate-&-maintain, and somewhat expendable, which can be deployed for convoy-escort and ASW duties, i.e. similar to the destroyer escorts (DDE) utilized by the Allied navies during WW2. Have these warships build by civilian shipyards across China, and China should be able to pump out hundreds of them pretty quickly, especially in times of extreme tension and war.

This is why the Indian Supapowa economy is not worth the hype.

Although India and Russia initially agreed to settle their trade transactions in rupees after establishing the framework, the system failed to gain traction as anticipated. Moscow quickly amassed a surplus of billions of rupees due to New Delhi’s substantial oil purchases.
In the frenzy of showing the middle finger to the USD and Euro, Russia hastily agreed get paid by India in rupees.

However, as imports from India remain stagnant, over $40 billion rupees have accumulated in special vostro accounts which Indian banks hold for Russian banks in the domestic currency. Russian companies have been unable to repatriate these rupees due to local currency restrictions.
Now, all that rupees that India paid to Russia is pilling up. Because Russia don't know what to buy from India apart from agriculture produce and the ocassional IT services. But those rupees that Russia rightfully owns is stuck in Indian banks, because India doesn't allow for large amounts of rupees to exit its borders. What a mess. Looks not much different from the situation of Russian Euros stuck in European accounts. Russia bought into the hype of the India Superpowa economy and is now paying a rupee-denominated price.

I think China's JARI USV program should fit the bill as the cheap, expendable, workhorse midget warship that you're describing here.
