1st generation East Asian immigrants always have been disadvantaged in both language and culture compared to Indians, especially upper class ones, who are educated in accordance to the British system.
On the other hand one can say compared to Indians, East Asians, particularly Taiwanese, have definately had more success in terms of entrepeneurship such as founding Nvidia, Zoom, Yahoo, and DoorDash. So building off
@SDtom's point its really about consolidating the collective efforts of East Asian Americans to build influence and solidify the community's standing.
