What exactly happens if a BRICS country becomes a developed country? Do they get kicked out upon achieving that status? Also is Russia even considered a developing country? Why bar countries that actually want to collaborate when India is a member that is blatantly sabotaging the group?
No, they are grandfathered in. France is a member of G7, G20, OECD, etc. Can Nigeria, for example, just decide to join these groups? What does France need BRICS for? They are influential in global affairs already, BRICS is for developing countries to push their interests. Today you let in France, tomorrow Sweden will want to join and before you know it the US would have infiltrated it and then you'll have BRICS members forcing others to to comply to western interests. No thanks. If France wants to develop and strengthen bilateral ties then fine, otherwise let's keep BRICS for strictly for developing countries.

Very interesting to see there isn't all that much commentary about this on the forum. No thoughts?
Taiwan has special laws on not allowing it's citizens in semiconductors industry to be poached by foreign countries.

In this case, China should enact an anti-brain drain measure with top ML/AI engineering talent. In practical terms, China should line up guaranteed job offers from top firms to them to stay locally. Also, going thru the H1B or EB1 process is long and not easy for spouses who have to find jobs too, so I don't think many will convert if there is a solid local offer in China with comparable salaries.

Another way to look at it would be:

BRICS is for the underdogs to discuss their strategy. G7 is for the elites to have their snobby club.

If a BRICS country and a G7 country want to do their bilateral plan, they can do it directly, or via UN. If there are multiple countries involved, they can create their own club.

It reminds me of what happened during the Cold War. A group of non aligned countries wanted to form their own group to push their interests, the G-15, but the western countries didn't want to deal with them. Instead, they preferred to deal with the G-77 under the UN, that tells you everything you need to know. The west can have their groups and decide on global standards and impose it on everybody else but woe betide anyone else that wants to create their own grouping independently, they automatically view it as a threat. A decade ago or so nobody cared about BRICS, now that China is richer and there's talk of creating a payment system independent of the dollar all of a sudden France wants to join, I smell something foul.

Major news:
A helicopter carrying Iranian President Raisi, the Iranian Foreign Minister and the governor of the East Azerbaijan province has made a "hard landing" (if not crashed) near the town of Jolfa in northwestern Iran, which is near the border with Azerbaijan. SAR efforts are underway, with details on casualties unknown.

It is a very strange story.

1) It does not matter where that Microsoft employee works, that person is still a Microsoft employee.

2) Why does Microsoft make this request? Did the US government asked them to ask? Or is America really short of qualified people?

3) If America is short of qualified people, just go ask some other country for their people. Surely some will jump at that chance.

4) Seem like a weak move to me. A move made out of weakness.

IMO, it is similar to the situation where the US is stripping citizenship for Chinese Americans working in semiconductors in China. This was almost 2 years ago and nothing really came of it. The intended mass exodus never happened.

MS is probably thinking the US government is growing more desperate, so better align operations now rather than suddenly.

Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, is holding an emergency meeting with the National Security Council

It's been a few hours, I feel the worst has happened, otherwise we'd hear reassuring news already. The big question is weather foul play is involved.

It seems logical why Macron is trying to lean towards Asia and Eurasia and attempting to join BRICS, and Why Russia and China are favouring maintaining high level political contact with France. France is about the only EU country that is not occupied by the US, is a nuclear power, is militarily stronger than other EU puppets, and has access to multiple seas. Who knows, maybe in the near future France will make serious commitments, let go of its colonial past, and join BRICS.
France and US are literally identic countries. Both are the same kind of Masonic republics full of secret organisations with the same social objectives.

France does not need to be occupied by US because they are literally the same.

I am really shock how people get so mistaken for some random superficial gestures of France that means nothing.

France is possibly the most colonialist country of the full west. Nowadays not even Britain get so benefit by its ex colonies.
France force several countries of Africa to hold their reserves in France central banks and use Franc as currency.

France without a colonialist world order is nothing. It would become a country like Spain or Italy, maybe even worse, and same with Germany without Russian resources.

France will never join BRICS because it’s simply not invited and it is totally opposite to the spirit of the organisation.
BRICS could invite other European countries that are not colonial nowadays, for example Spain, Italy, Greece and so on.

France is basically in the opposite front that BRICS trying to stop the development of the developing countries.

Sadly I think the same. Too many hours without any new, that they are alive would be a miracle.

For sure an assassination, specially coming from a meeting with Azerbaiyan. Israel and western hands for sure in it trying to stop any kind of improving relation between Iran and Azerbaiyan.

a pity, Raise was a great president for Iran
