Miscellaneous News

South Koreans deserves the scorns. Samsung replaced exploding Note 7 for everyone in the world except the Chinese users. Korea automakers purposely downgrade the cars they produce for the Chinese market. Korea allowed the deployment of THAAD system that threaten Chinese's second strike capabilities. Koreans stealing Chinese cultural heritages....
Likely Korean cars were not cost competitive in the Chinese market in the segment they were targeting, and their automakers had to downgrade the cars. THAAD was a reaction to NK, SK has to prioritize its own national security and THAAD won't not be able to target Chinese missiles en route to the US. Not sure why Samsung wouldn't replace phones for Chinese users though. That seems very shortsighted and probably contributed to Samsung being outcompeted out of the Chinese mobile market.

THAAD is useless against NK. It was just an excuse.

The threat from THAAD is the tracking of ICBM fired from China. In the scenario of a surprise first strike by the US against the small Chinese ICBM arsenal, majority of the missiles get wipeout. The few surviving ones fire at CONUS will be tracked by THAAD early on, increasing the interception probability of the NMD base in Alaska. There is a good chance none of them will reach CONUS.

And in the event of a nuclear exchange, you think China will leave the THAAD site alone?

THAAD and American soldiers in Korea and Japan all serve just as symbols and trip wires.

In any case the fault lies with the US and not SK. But how can a terminal defense system be useless against NK missiles aimed at SK? The US could've used any excuse to build radars in SK. US can achieve the same with AEGIS destroyers docked in SK. If anything, US most likely intentionally choose a method that would drive a wedge between China and SK, so it would be foolish of China to allow the US to achieve that objective. And today with hundreds of ICMBs based far away from Northeast China and the capability to produce ICMBs like dumplings, THAAD is completely irrelevant. Even the most delusional policymakers in Washington cannot hope to survive a 2nd strike.

Seoul would be wiped out with MLRS alone in minutes
No need for nukes. Therefore, THAAD was unlikely for use against NK

The threat to the Chinese ICBM arsenal at the time of THAAD deployment was very real.

Anyways, try to pay more attention to South Koreans’ attitudes toward China. There is no love loss between Chinese and South Koreans.

Who needs Switzerland anymore, when China can play the role of moderating between warring/conflict parties?

The fact that China is the go-to nation for peace in the Middle East makes some folks mad.
