You take this news at face value why? You don't think the US would make up charges against Chinese-Americans, especially during this political environment?

The point is that it is stupid to put themselves into that position of joining the US military at this moment. Everyone at the very least breaks opsec by accident, but if you are "CHINESE", you know they will be force to come after you since some a-hole would make a stink if they did not.

Should Chinese intelligence agencies attempt to recruit agents in US? I'll say yes, only fair to return the favour right?

With that established, the best type of agent are not those purely motivated by money, but instead by ideology. We know US makes use of ideologically motivated agents in China, if you want an idea what they look like just look at who Yellen had dinner with in Beijing. Conversely when Chinese agencies recruit agents in US ideally you also want people motivated ideologically. And with neo McCarthyism on the rise I feel there will be such opportunities. These two could very well be such given the relatively small pay they received (5000 USD).

I realize that this is ill omen for Chinese-Americans but wheel of history being such there's not much you can do to stop it, best get out of the way instead.

Sadly, that might be the case. However, if every Chinese Americans were forced to not participate in military, law enforcement, politics or even scientists in sensitive area, then Chinese Americans would slowly become even marginalized. Why sometimes you're damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Money is a double edged sword. In the end greed is what got a lot of agents in the west caught.

I'm shocked, shocked, to find out that Wikipedia is under the surveillance and subject to the manipulation of CIA and FBI.

25% can't locate Ukraine on a map.

India almost surrendered to neoliberalism completely. The end result is not so great when compared to China.

I'm glad some Korean commentators are very clear eyed.
The US has attempted to bolster trilateral security cooperation amongst the three countries in order to hold China in check in the Indo-Pacific, in turn pushing to deepen South Korea and Japan’s cooperation on security. On Saturday, US President Joe Biden remarked that efforts to contain China are succeeding, dubbing the reconciliation between South Korea and Japan a “fundamental change.” With the Yoon Suk-yeol administration letting Japan off the hook from past historical issues and strengthening South Korea-Japan relations in all arenas, the tide for trilateral security cooperation amongst South Korea, the US and Japan is quickly rising.
The problem is that, while the US will gain clear strategic benefits by utilizing this to contain China, the side effects will outweigh the benefits in South Korea’s case.
Security cooperation between South Korea and the US as well as amongst South Korea, the US and Japan should be boosted to a certain extent to prepare against North Korea’s advancing nuclear capabilities, tight cooperation amongst North Korea, China and Russia, and rising tensions in East Asia surrounding Taiwan. But is it really desirable to abandon all efforts to demand the just resolution of historical issues between South Korea and Japan to instead rush military cooperation?
Strategically speaking, the chances of North Korea, China and Russia standing together more closely will increase the more South Korea, the US and Japan bolster their military cooperation.

Business visa rules is irrelevant. However, scraping the household registration restrictions for any cities under 3 million people would boost both the economy and public services.

The measures also detail plans to scrap restrictions on household registration in cities of less than 3 million people and relax policies for those with a population between 3 million and 5 million people, state-owned Global Times reported, citing comments by Ministry of Public Security official Yuan Xiguo at a briefing on Thursday. China’s household registration system, known as hukou, restricts people from accessing government services outside the area where they are registered as residing.
