Can't say anything bad about American quality if nothing gets made in America. *GuyTappingForehead.gif*

let me inject some reality to this discussion:

"wrenches are akshually made up of a very high grade of steel that must withstand highly corrosive automotive shop conditions, impact and abuse by non-professionals, have sub mm level precision and still be cheap enough to be manufactured in the millions.

a country with primitive industry can no more make a wrench than it can a ballpoint pen, because it is that high tech.

thank you for coming to my TED talk."

This is real and significant happening on the ground. All geopolitical saber rattling not withstanding, this article is absolutely on the money. And I think the US elites understand that. And I believe that is one of the top, if not THE top, reasons that have been driving the current "visiting China" frenzy from US.

Hot war between US and China continues to be a fantasy outside DC and Beijing. Trade war is already in a phase of protracted attrition. It is the currency war that is becoming a truly global war, with many parties in various interest groups all over the world. The currency war is far beyond US versus China. Many global south countries have stronger incentives and higher sense of urgency to decouple from the dollar. It doesn't mean at all they are going to embrace RMB. But on net net effects, dollar is going to receive most negative impact while RMB is going to receive incremental usage in trade as well as reserve.

The 21st century world war is going to be a motley of currency war and tech war. Ukraine war is so last-century. We are not going to see a global hot war. But the currency world war is unfolding in front of our eyes.

The US spinning pleading with China not to decouple with the US. That's what it means when the US is trying to explain to China that they will continue with decoupling with China from their end but they don't want China to decouple with the US from making money from China. Money is money. It doesn't matter where it comes from because it's a medium to an ends. And the end is they need money to make advanced technology or else it comes to a grinding halt without it. What is the US still willing and want to sell to China? Everything China can get someplace else because it's not about national security. That's the nature. Are soybeans and corn important to US national security? No because China can get them from somewhere else but the US wants the money from selling them to China. That's why the US wants to prevent China from decoupling with the US.

The US can't even manufacture a wrench anymore. Is it because they lost the blueprints? No, it's because it comes down to money. It cost too much for them to do. Even automation can't compete. To do so like how dumb Americans believe can be done will still face the problem that their wrench cannot compete with the competition's wrenches because they will be manufactured overseas at a cheaper cost than theirs and thus they go bankrupt.

Western culture then and now has always been about the exploitation of others. The reason the West is all worried over supply chain issues is because they have to pay in a competitive market because they have to look like they're a civilized part of the world. No more taking for free or on the cheap from others because they were the only ones with money to buy things. Now that there are competitors for the world's resources, the West has to play a fair game of ball or else the world will see them as the monster everyone knows them to be in history. What the world is witnessing now is the West not being able to compete because the system isn't rigged in their favor. Their panic and actions over how the world is turning into only points to their end.

Good. Lets hope its for real this time. North Korea needs more access to up-to-date weaponry. They do need to modernize some of their arsenal, compared with the American puppets down south and east.

Meanwhile, commenting on the visit of both Russian and Chinese delegations to North Korea, US State Department spokesman Vedant Patel expressed hope that they would use their influence on Pyongyang “to encourage them to refrain from threatening unlawful behavior” and play a part in defusing regional tensions.
LOL!

I posted this article too (Daily Mail version) over in the American Economics Thread.

Even better is this Labor Day Message from the stamping machine manufacturer which sounds straight out of Borat

I joked to a friend that the first sign of trouble was sourcing your equipment from Belarus (although maybe that's not fair). Realistically, the bigger issue is that they basically have no more expertise in manufacturing. I've been saying this for a while (especially pertaining to the weapons production ramp up that the media keeps mentioning with regards to Ukraine). Basically no one knows how machines should work except some really old guys. Those really old guys just want to play golf and spend time with grandkids. If they can't sort it out in 2 months, they're gone.

Money lost in vain: 90 millions dollars.
Salary, bonus and kickbacks: tens of millions dollars.
Stock price gains from the hype: probably a few times of that.
Amount add to the GDP figure: even more.
Lesson learned about re-shoring: priceless.

B-but adding pointless gdp like that will allow us to not fall further behind China!

Higher number = better, who cares about actual productivity and what the people can afford?
