We achieved our non-fossil, installed electric capacity target nine years in advance. We have now set a higher target, we plan to achieve 50% non-fossil installed capacity by 2030”, he told the G20 energy ministers’ meeting in Goa.
Bla-bla-bla
For decarbonising India we are working on a mission of green hydrogen alternative”, he said. “That aim is to make India a global hub of production and export of green hydrogen and its derivatives. We are happy to share our learnings.”
India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission was unveiled by the Modi government in 2022 with a target of producing 5 million tons of renewable hydrogen by 2030 and securing a 10% market share of the global hydrogen trade.
So India plans to produce and sell 5Mt of hydrogen that is more expensive to produce than hydrogen from the Oil & Gas industry.

Earlier this year, New Delhi approved a nearly 175 billion-rupee ($2.1 billion) program to incentivise green hydrogen fuel producers, covering at least 10% of their costs. New Delhi is also considering bilateral agreements with several countries to trade green hydrogen. Power Ministry officials told the media last week India and Japan will be discussing setting up a joint credit mechanism to enable buyers of green hydrogen to receive carbon emission credits generated from the production of green hydrogen.
Looks like India is probably onboard the Hydrogen Fuel Cell vehicle plans by Japan. EV had already won the race of alternative-powered vehicles. India is betting on the wrong horse, and I am happy to see this development. Carbon emission credits is a meaningless economic incentive to the Global South. If it is not locally-implemented, but enforced by some Western body, it is worthless.

Green Hydrogen is not in itself, a bad idea, but it should not be the way that India is planning to do it. Green Hydrogen is relatively easily to produce. It only requires a green power source, industrial-grade electrolysis machinery, and water. It should be something that under-developed countries could produce themselves, instead of having to buy it from India at high cost, and earning some bogus carbon credit.

I just can't believed the Indian gov't promise such huge undertaking without investing and planning how to execute such plan, I mean do they know the meaning of shame and embarrassment IF nothing come out of it? Here in SEA India words is meaningless, like the kid who cried wolf nobody take them seriously. ;)

I completely disagree. Hollywood is a very powerful soft power tool and its reach extends to all 6 corners of this world, China doesn't have that level of soft power. Compared to the Cold War, Hollywood hasn't gone hard on China as it did to the Russians and that's because it doesn't want to piss off China, that's power. It's not about whether most people care, the truth is that you don't want a powerful tool to go against you, it shapes people's view and that will be a setback.
We are talking about the Hollywood of 2023, not the Hollywood of 1993. Nobody takes Hollywood as seriously anymore. The Hollywood today with all that woke agenda. Mulan, Shang-Chi, Crazy Rich Asians, Everywhere Everything All At Once has not slowed the China-hate at all. It has also failed to mitigate the Asian-hate in the US. In terms of bringing China and the West closer, Hollywood had been a colossal failure. What truly works today in the propaganda battleground today is CNN, Fox News, Joe Rogan, Gordon Chang, and NAFO. People really don't care about a pro-China movie, they already have a core bias against China. They can watch Shang-Chi first, then listen to Joe Rogan later, and then hate the Chinese even more.

I've said this before: if China plays the same game the west is playing, it will lose. No doubt about that. making anti west films would be so counter productive. It's better for Hollywood to kowtow while China builds up its own film industry, heck the article mentions joint ventures, that should be the lane Chinese studios should enter in the short to medium term.
China cannot win the propaganda war with the West for the next few years. There is no way to sugarcoat this. The English language world is dominated by the West. China just cannot please the majority of the English language crowd. It has to work with the reality that it is in right now. Soft power is not a race that China is in a position to win right now. CGTN and Chinese cinema can only win China so much respect and new friends. Nobody else wants to listening to China's message. They can only be convinced by China's warships, missiles, and nuclear weapons; Hard power. This will keep the peace and allow China to rise in relative safety to the world's no.1 economy, while the West declines. Only then, when the tables are turned, can China have more effective Soft Power. Then, Hollywood might have to kowtow to China anyways, especially if it wants to have a piece of the world's largest economy.

I was going to post this on Indian military thread but I'll post this recently made Observer Research Foundation (ORF) think tank which is one of the top think tanks in India. On this forum the panelists and their expert audiences discussed Chinas Comprehensive National Power (CNP) and how China managed to achieve their current status in all domains. I encourage people on this forum to watch the video and witness the great reluctance but growing acceptance about China's rise and dominance in the region which animates in my view India's extreme insecurity with China. At the end of the presentation there's a question and answer portion where one of the participants pointedly mentioned that CHINA HAS A VERY GOOD SOFT POWER contrary to what many people believed and perceived in the room. He supported his claim by saying that despite western countries supposed problems with China those countries are actually afraid to do anything about China other than provide some western lip service (human rights, tibet, HK, Xinjiang) but the actions on the ground says otherwise. BRICS is it expanding or shrinking? BRI is it expanding in the global south or shrinking? China's diplomatic heft is it decreasing in the world or has it not increased if not encroached into areas that were not traditionally strongly linked with China see Saudi Arabia.

Some people here keeps using Hollywood as the stick to measure and beat down China's supposed lack lustre soft power capabilities but in my opinion, what I watched and listened on that ORF forum actually made me appreciate China's approach in what most people traditionally associate with soft power which is usually entertainment centric and not economic, trade, and HRDC efforts which are not too obvious for many undiscerning eyes whose focus and orientation tends to be western leaning.

If you ever needed proof that Western media and narratives are controlled by the political elite, just look at the silence regarding the Manipur violence.

150 people have already been killed and 2 women were gangraped and paraded naked on the streets. This is some of the most screwed up news of 2023.

Yet there is nothing on western news except short, low-readership articles whitewashing and intentionally downplaying the incidents

American fun "blockbuster" types movies seem to be a sequel (or 8th sequel) or some multi-part Marvel/Starwars etc type movie. Kinda pointless to watch. The Chinese has similar cinematography ability as the west now, they can produce anything they want.

My Indian elementary school classmates were telling me back in 2009 that India would surpass China in a few years LOL

My Indian high school classmate kept on claiming that India was the richest country in the world — back in 2006-2007. Needless to say my friends made it and inside joke and gave him the nickname “richest country”.
