Life expectancy is a very useful indicator for in-country comparisons of life quality over time. The US life expectancy is falling indicating that life is getting harder for Americans
They will raise retirement /social security benefits to be higher than life expectancy (since it will probably drop even more) to try and forestall the collapse of the social net funds

Considering just how costly healthcare is in the US, I would imagine that plenty of this decrease is owed to deaths that could have been prevented via timely treatment and diagnosis. Pandemic notwithstanding, of course.

An organization like the UN cannot work with ill-prepared official let loose without at least good scripted answers. If he still have his job he is a lost sold-out chair holder and the UN accept that.
