An ex-USAF pilot had an interesting comment. The first official kill for the F-22 is.... a weather balloon.
All the other predecessor US fighter jets models can claim Migs as their first kills. But for the F22, arguably the best and last fighter aircraft that the US can produce. It's first kill is a weather balloon. How pathetic.
Granted the weather balloon was at a very high altitude. Russia or China would have used a SAM for such a mission. The Soviets have been able to down U2s with their SAMs in the Cold War. So a modern high end Russian or Russian-derived SAM system could have done the job too.
But the US needed to assemble an entire air combat group complete with tankers for the job. All of that for a slow-moving weather balloon? Good luck trying to stop HGVs flying at that altitude.
This whole balloon affair has been a clown show for the US. The USAF has gone from shooting Migs to shooting at a static balloon that doesn't shoot back. Some idiots in America even thought that that Chinese balloon could have been a nuke delivery vehicle. LOL!
Despite Putin and Zelenskyy coming to an agreement, the anglos destroyed it for the sake of shoring up nato and war. Every death in Ukraine and amongst the poles, Czechs and other NATO countries, can be laid at the feet of the ghouls of the Atlantic.
Hmmm interest proposition but don’t count China out in regards to this situation. I believe that China will make it out just fine, provided the USA and Russia knock each other out along with the EU if they are stupid enough to go that far. But on the bright side, there will be no more NATO, C!A or WEF to deal with because they will be turned to ash. They started brilliant, just a small non main stream media outlet with head office based in Asia, in Bangkok AFAIK. They regularly call out mainstream western propaganda that masquerade as news, they had based knowledgeable contributors as you mentioned, the likes of pepe, MK....and even Henry CK Liu, during the very early days I was reading their stuff more that 15 years ago.
Their popularity boomed during US so called war on terror, they even had war time journalist embedded in Pakistan and Afghanistan reporting insider news on dealings between the Pakistan government and intelligence, US intelligence, Alqaeda and Taliban. He also reported real time valuable stuff on the war not seen on main stream. Unfortunately he was killed during duty.
All these made keen on their stuff but sometime after I believe they got took over by western company and things changed for awhile at that time so I stopped reading. Glad to know they still have guys like pepe there contributing. So they didn't change as much since.
