I’m sure if this had been the over way around the western MSM would also fail to point how the extremely sexist nature of that ‘traditional’ greeting or praise her for her progressiveness in fighting said sexism n
K-Pop fans are just being egged on by the usual anti-China haters or latch on to this incident to sow division amongst fellow East Asians and further decision towards China and Chinese people in general.

With the general election coming up in South Korea the usual suspects are going to highlight this incident as further "evidence" of Chinese whatever label those people will come up with and they're pretty creative lol...

But unfortunately for those very passionate folks China market dwarfs that of South Korea and Japan and that's just reality. Plus, the actions the young Chinese made was in no way a disrespect to Korean "tradition" unless they essentially want and force the Chinese artist to rid of her own cultural identity. It's tragically ironic that those morons always accuses China and Chinese people for "cultural genocide" of her ethnic minorities but has no problem dictating and throwing a hilariously childish fit by insisting that a Chinese person "conforms" to a Korean practice against her autonomy.

But do we still care about truth and nothing but the truth after we have chosen a sides
Yes, but truth is overrated. Even in today’s world the so-called truth is just impossible to access and we have to rely on facts and perspectives, knowing it can be partial and distorted. For some, excess obsession with the truth is just the sign of a huge ego that cannot objectively assess his/her own human limitations, and this mindset is extremely dangerous when a person mistaken something else for truth. For others, it’s just voyeurism. In the end, truth doesn’t get things done, it’s just the information that may help in decision making, don’t seek meaning where there isn’t.

sometimes I worry my nationalism is just to make me feel better about myself
Great take. I feel you on this one, I question that a lot about myself. My current conclusion is that being Chinese is a crucial part of my identity that affects how I see and feel things constantly, acknowledging my own culture and upbringing is not equal to xenophobia or other negative stuff people relate to nationalism. I see my nationalism as the anchor of my individualism.

but in the end, I thought he made greater contribution when he was building things than being a bitter critic (because criticism is all about asking other people to build things).
Well, deconstruction is much easier (and more publishable) than construction, sadly thats what post-modernism is all about.

Guys, I remember someone posting a video there of a Kyrgyz guy saying that he was paid $200 to protest or something.

It seems that Kazakhstan government fucked up here once again because Kyrgyz FM identified this guy as a pretty famous Kyrgyz pianist Vikram Ruzakhunov who went to tour Kazakhstan back in December. He is definitely not some poor fuck who will go riot for $200 on behalf of foreign intelligence. I've read some insta pages and telegram channels - now many Kyrgyz people are outraged at this botched PR attempt of Kazakh government. They are so incompetent, jeez...

So, everyone focusing on a hypothetical Russia attack Ukraine scenario, but how that could worsen the security situation of the USA or the EU ?

That would decrease the security of Russia , by creating a war next they borders that consume resources and internationa l blowback. Means expecting an Ukrainan invsaion from Russia is equivalent with saying Russia is stupid. And we haven't seen sign for that .

I am one of the few who doesn't see a conflict happening in Ukraine I mean Russian invasion not now atleast but despite that I see this two countries eventually in the endgame colliding 30+years in the future where the gap and power balance is different between them.

The hatred builded up from WW2, Crimea annexation and donbas conflict has opened up a wound that will fester with time but no conflict will happen in the short term future. Will they have their own conclusive endgame? the answer yes all tho not in the short term

What caused him to become a critic of the governance system in China when I heard he's the one who designed that Olympic stadium in Beijing for the 2008 Olympics.

Did he become a wannabe Pablo Picasso who had affairs with many women some of which were underage and also dabbled into "free expression of art I.e. sexual debauchery but hey it's "art". Some of these eclectic individuals become so enamored with their "uniqueness" and geniuses that they become so caught up with their own self-imposed importance that they lose touch with reality.
He was always.

who suffered the purge during the culture revolution. Ai weiwei was the privileged people (like aristocrat) before the purge, but then sank to the bottom like an outcast during the purge. There are similar people such as upper class people in KMT era before 1949 who lost their privilege or property/factory/business. All these people resent the PRC. Honestly you can't expect the deposed emperor to love the new dynasty.

There are purged people like Deng Xiaoping and Xi Zhongxun and their children Deng Pufang and Xi Jinping who suffered the same or even worse than Ai weiwei. But these people after the purge got rehabilitated and reinstated, their career (political or economical) succeeded afterwards, one can say they are adequately compensated. But Ai weiwei's career is like his father in arts, if you lost the time you lost the time of production, and your only source of inspiration is the dark days.

I had a friend whose grandfather owned a large business before 1949. Their factories were nationalized. He was born well afterwards, but he always yearned the would-have-been glorious life of himself by saying "I would have been ...... if not because of CPC". I was so annoyed to almost (but didn't) say "then you would not have made friend with me".

The bottom line is that to these people, PRC took away their chances to be a prince, no amount of compensation could be enough, it is personal.

He is just anti-authority regardless of the source.
Yeah, it would be nice if he criticizes the western authority more since really, for China, the authority their actually cares for the people despite how struck they sometimes can be. Western authorities nowadays are becoming incredibly tyrannical so since his criticism is level over there, well he deserves a little credit but any further unjustified criticism leveled at China will be receive with indifference on my part and I suspect other would also consider him to be a waste of space them

I don’t think a conflict will occur in Ukraine because Ukraine doesn’t have the will or the money to fight against Russia nor the logistics and man power to fight back and that threat prevents the people for supporting the government in such an endeavor and Zelenski knows it because he has been clamoring for the west and the USA to intervene and fight on his behalf to no real avail other then being given weapons and told to go die on the behalf of the west.
I do believe that the issues in the USA is going to finally explode though and that alone will dwarf any situation in Taiwan or Ukraine so that then everyone will have their eyes glued on the USA instead. It’s like a slow moving powder keg that is threatening to go off in a big way given the governments lack of policies designed to fix the problems instead of the current can kicking that is going on

Ukraine has a competitive spirit it may not have what it takes today but not at the phase it is developing the defense industry and a possible future nuclear state and in the next war they will not fight for survival but for hegemony in the area and perhaps even a conquest. Tables will change with time and Ukraine has time on it's side

I remember seeing the report of the paid rioter, but not the video.

Do you have the source of the "Kyrgyz identification"?

Edit:
Never mind, I found some reports on .kz sites.
