Ps he's ethnic Chinese, what happen to the 5 year multiple entry visa the so called appreciation
Every foreign visitor to China must have a valid Visa. Being ethnic Chinese, or even born in China, does not exempt one from it. Appreciating the oversea Chinese does not mean to put them above the laws.

Do you know why this guy couldn't get his Visa renewed?

So they lost everything and their life is endanger And what China did BIG NOTHING offer at least moral support? provide temporary sanctuary? Nope none of those just like the proverbial monkey No hear, No see and no talk. Not surprising since they don't even bother to help their own down trodden like the migrant worker, cant send their children to regular school, No medical benefit, work for pittance etc
Please control your anger.

Just because the Chinese government did not make you happy in one case, you started denying everything else it has done? Not a healthy behaviour. The world does not revolve around anyone.

Look this is severely pissing me off.

Xi Jinping issued a directive to produce more sci fi dramas and movies two years ago but it's not bearing fruit.

Why are we letting the Koreans produce a massive string of world topping science fiction TV shows?

Why are Japanese and Chinese incapable of producing live action sci fi? (Excl Godzilla)

Oh but is it just me but does Bae Doona look like Rinko Kikuchi? Plus they have the same haircut

You can't just issue a directive to produce artistic output

Its like saying I want within 5 years to increase art by 80%. Its impossible, art doesn't work like that

There may be other reasons why sci-fi movies are not produced

2. still haven't gotten the third aircraft carrier out
3. still haven't gotten the second 5th gen naval fighter out
4. is in the middle of a trade war with the US
5. is in the middle of making itself self-sufficient on all important parts like chips
6. still trying to control covid
7. being the only country to grow during this pandemic by trading with others
Perfect description. This is the reason why Xi can't press the button yet

Not exactly a surprise to anyone who's been keeping up with world events.
No different from when the Japanese obeyed Obama and stirred up disputes with China over islands. Trade between the two dropped like a rock and Japan's Western allies were all too willing to fill-in for what Japan lost.

"It's not the role of government to tell companies who they should sell to," Dr Wilson said.

But Western countries can tell their companies not to sell to or buy from China... like how Australia told their companies not to buy Huawei.

Imagine what would happen if the PM of Solomon Islands were to privately and publicly seek the security assistance of the PLA to help secure his country against the marauding bandits peacefully but at the same time demanding that Oz paramilitary forces leave and vacate his country by dropping the truth bomb that his country's recent attack was aided, abated, by Oz kangaroos gross interference into the sovereign rights of his country. I can imagine Scotty
While I think Australia was causing trouble behind the scenes, Australia and NZ feel they have the responsibility to be the first responders to any civil breakdown after we were invited in by the PM of the Solomons in the early 2000's. Under "Operation Ramsi" we sent a peacekeeping force around 2003 and left in 2017. A friend of mine served there and he said the place was like a failed state and he felt that an all out civil war could erupt at any moment.
