La Nacion - Buenos Aires - "Who killed the prosecutor?". The program 60 Minutes, CBS, US, last night aired a report on the mysterious death of Alberto Nisman. The investigation included interviews with Foreign Minister Héctor Timerman, one of the accused by the former head of the UFI-AMIA in its complaint for concealment Iran, and computer expert Diego Lagomarsino, the only defendant in the case where the death is investigated Nisman.

"I'm part of the mystery. I do not know" answers Timerman when the reporter Lesley Stahl asks if Nisman "committed suicide or was murdered."

The report notes that the former prosecutor of the AMIA case found dead with a gunshot to the head in the bathroom of his apartment on the 13th floor of the towers Le Parc hours before the day was going to attend the Congress to expound on their complaint Cristina Kirchner for concealment against Iran in the investigation of the AMIA bombing, which occurred in 1994.

"Was it a murder? The Government was involved somehow? Was it suicide?" Asks Stahl in the reporting on the death of Nisman. CBS warns that the appearance lifeless prosecutor who had denounced the President became "an international crime novel".

"I was ten trustees and a long list of enemies," said the 60 Minutes program. The journalist Stahl traveled to Buenos Aires for research entitled "Who killed the prosecutor?" Which includes interviews to Timerman, Lagomarsino, writer Gustavo Perednik, and the judge of the AMIA case, Rodolfo Canicoba Corral.

"I DO NOT KNOW IF COMMITTED SUICIDE"
Lagomarsino, who was accused prosecutor Viviana Fein for having lent Nisman the Bersa gun from which came the shot that ended his life, recalled that the former head of the UFI-AMIA was concerned about his safety and that of her two daughters. "No thought I would use the weapon," said former employee of the special prosecutor, who denied being a "spy" as suggested by the Government. He added: "I do not know whether he committed suicide."

The report said Lagomarsino was targeted by the President as one of the suspects in the death of Nisman. Also reported that the head of state first chose the hypothesis of suicide with a letter published on Facebook and days later spoke of a homicide.

The CBS report stresses that Nisman devoted his life to investigating the bombing of the AMIA and felt "betrayed" when the government "negotiated with the terrorists" Iranians. According to the WikiLeaks cables, stands 60 minutes, the prosecutor deceased kept the focus of his research on Iranian by US request.

The reporter asked if Timerman was "agree with those who say that Nisman was a puppet of the United States and the CIA." "Puppetry is a very strong word for a chancellor," replied the minister, adding: "I used to go to the embassy and overtake what was going to do."

The foreign minister denied that the government has planned move to Nisman UFI-AMIA. "I was not going to lose their job, it's a version of the media. We never argue about getting the work the prosecutor," he said.

THE ROLE OF EX SPY
Research on American television also concerns the role of the powerful former intelligence agent, Jaime Antonio Stiuso in the case. During the interview, Timerman said there was "a connection" between the denunciation of Nisman and displacement of Stiuso of the former SIDE. "Stiuso was fired in December, and fourteen days later, Nisman filing the complaint against the President," said the chancellor, who said that the prosecution's former AMIA had "evidence".

When asked about the hypothesis proposed by Kirchner that Nisman was deceived by the former spy to advance its submission against the head of state and therefore decided to commit suicide, the Chancellor said: "I can not imagine what it can going through the mind of a person as Nisman. And I do not want to speculate because he's dead. He can not defend themselves, so I will not speculate on what happened. "

THE CIRCULAR RED INTERPOL
The official also shook an alleged government interest in lowering Interpol red circular hanging over the Iranians accused of the bombing of the AMIA. According to the complaint of Nisman, that was the goal of Tehran when he signed the memorandum of understanding with Argentina.

"It is illogical. The only thing you can ask the judge," said Timerman, who recalled the letter sent by the former director of Interpol Ronald Noble in which he denied that Argentina has formally requested that the alerts are lifted.

The 60 minutes also featured the testimony of Judge Canicoba Corral. The magistrate, who has been critical to the complaint of Nisman, denied the Casa Rosada ever been involved.

I watched this.

So a man who is a special prosecutor into the terror attack and who has been studying it for ten years, announces that he will present evidence against the President and the Foreign Minister for colluding with Iran to cover it up so they can get a better trade deal...and then a few days later, just before he officially presents the info...he commits suicide?

No way.

Particularly when he indicated he did not trust his "body guards," and asked a friend for a gun so he could protect himself and his family.

Sad to see this level of corruption and I hope the people in Argentina rise up and put a stop to it. Good report for the most part by 60 minutes.

AXIS OF EVIL:confused:

60 minutes is one of the most credible documentary producing news programs on the planet, Shahryarl.

Iran was implicated years ago by the UN in that terror attack. The current Argentinian government wants to put it behind them so could easily be willing to establish a quid pro quo, and apparently the prosecutor investigating it had evidence documenting it before he was killed.

We have respected, long time members on this forum from Argentina who have been reporting on this for some time and now 60 minutes is corroborating it.

You, on the other hand, are relatively new here. So please be careful about degenerating other members and their reports because you do not happen to agree.

Stop with the one line, drive-by attacks like this.

Nisman had been scheduled to present a 289-page criminal complaint to Congress charging that President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner — Nestor’s wife and successor — and Foreign Minister Hector Timerman — the son of human rights activist Jacobo Timerman — had hatched a byzantine plot to absolve Iran of complicity in the 1994 bombing in exchange for Iranian oil supplies and further Argentinian access to Iranian markets.

A day before his body was discovered in his bathroom, a gunshot wound to his head and a spent bullet on the floor, Nisman had presciently told a journalist, “I might turn up dead from all this.”

Argentina has dragged its feet far too long, and in the wake of Nisman’s murder, it is incumbent on Argentina to put this matter to rest for once and for all.

Therefore, If you have evidence to the contrary, please present it or refrain form speculation.

Almost all world governments are corrupt
For me, it's no surprise

Argentina wanted a good trade deal with Iran and turned a blind eye to the Israeli Embassy in 1992.
I agree

DO NOT throw out pure speculation like this against Israel. NO ONE associated with the investigation, the UN, Argentina, or anyone else has ever said ANYTHING like this. We do not deal in such rabid rumors and speculation on SD.

The 60 minutes documentary provides ample evidence. There are numerous other well documented reports of what happened.

I am sorry if you cannot see or look at those...but they are there, and Mirage linked to one of them on this very thread.

Again , i see no evidence ....

China jails two for selling military secrets, including details of aircraft carrier

BEIJING (Reuters) - China has jailed two men for selling military secrets, including hundreds of photos of the country's lone aircraft carrier, to foreign spies, state media reported on Friday, without saying which countries were buying them.

The state-controlled Dalian Daily said foreign intelligence services paid the men to send thousands of photos of military targets and projects, as well as recordings and other information.

Both were young, "ordinary workers" who used their access to military bases in Dalian, in the northeast, the paper said. One of the men, surnamed Han, was lured by a person posing as a journalist on a popular mobile chat application.

"The enemy hidden on the front lines has shown itself. In recent years foreign spies have used the internet as a battlefield for inciting rebellion within the enemy camp, and some young internet users have become the targets," the paper said. "The methods of the enemy may be cunning, but actually it is completely possible to guard against them."

The other, a 23-year-old surnamed Zhang, traveled to an air show in Beijing last summer and took hundreds of photographs of the Liaoning aircraft carrier. He also collected materials there at the behest of a foreign intelligence operative, the paper said.

They were eventually caught by public security authorities. Han was sentenced to 8 years in prison on January 29 and Zhang was sentenced to six years on February 12, the paper said.

China's Ministry of Defense did not respond to a request for comment.

In a similar case in November, a man was arrested for taking photos of an aircraft carrier base in the coastal city of Qingdao and selling them to a foreigner.

Counterintelligence officials quoted by state media said at the time that more young Chinese internet users are being recruited by foreign spies to gather military intelligence.

China and the United States frequently trade accusations of hacking and cyber spying, increasing tension between the two countries.

China's state secrets law is notoriously broad, covering everything from industry data to the exact birth dates of state leaders. Information can also be labeled a state secret retroactively.

Sorry to hear this.

Of course if they were working at the behest of foreign intelligence operatives, it is clear why they would be arrested.

I expect many young Chinese are simply proud of the military accomplishments and taking pictures and posting them to the internet out of that pride.

That is also understandable and goes on in most countries.

Hard to say whether there is any cross over...but I would advise any of our Chinese users, particularly on the mainland, to be very careful what they post.

Dolchevita,

I do not want to get into a protracted discussion on this thread regarding the actions of the Moderators on SDF (if you wish to reply please do so in mail form, not here). Needless to say they (the moderators) work very hard to police the forum and to keep it civil and fact based. Sometimes I speculate on items I post, but I add a disclaimer that it is my opinion, not a fact or attempt to pass it off as a fact.

We are all very proud of this forum and that it does not contain the fighting and arguments found in forums, but instead is a place of facts that list sources and sites respected/collaborated evidence to support or disprove your case.

Jeff and the other moderators work very hard, with no compensation to make this a better place. Please show them the respect they deserve and please read the forum rules to acquaint yourself with the proper behavior and decorum.

I have enjoyed many of your posts and hope to continue all of our cordial and respectful exchanges.

Here is a very interesting story in the UK media today

UK support for China-backed Asia bank prompts US concern
The particular quote that caught my attention was:

The Financial Times (FT) newspaper
Please, Log in or Register to view URLs content!
that US officials had complained about the British move.

The report cited an unnamed senior US administration official as saying the British decision was taken after "virtually no consultation with the US".

I think such a comment requires a diplomatic retort of the V Nuland School!
