China's taking a much more lenient line than what is possible.

IMO Lithuania should be getting the Cuba treatment. Ban all exports & inports (including through third countries). Make all economic activity between Lithuania and China illegal. Close down both embassies, refuse visas and so on. Basically acting like the country doesn't exist. Sanction the crap out of their political elite.

An example needs to be made. A weak response is only going to encourage other eastern European puppet states to be pawns for America in the future.

Nay. Recalling the ambassador is enough for now. For a longer term response, Lithuania has one high tech industry - laser. China should invest a few billion dollars to develop competing products.

Just a reminder that in all these cases, China will now ALWAYS stand against the West (mostly the US). These people were making blunders all the time for decades without suffering any costs because the US was the sole superpower. These countries got used to this convenient arrangement and then they thought that they could "business as usual" make China the enemy.

Guess what, all the diplomats and think-tanks are going to be poured with cold water when they realise that China and Russia will be watching them like wolves, ready to pounce on the moment they slip up the slightest.

They thought that they could mindlessly antagonise China, and then in their hubris they also made Russia an enemy. That was their fatal mistake. China having Russia as an ally (or just a friend) means that it's safety is quaranteed. China can now easily focus on other areas of the world and start imposing costs to the West.

With
China + Russia = friends

And after Afghanistan is calmed down and some sort of gov is established:
Central Asia = secured 100%
Road to Middle East (+ Iran) will get dramatically accelerated.

Thanks Biden. Another "nation-builder" for China, president elected by the Americans once again.

When fighting the war, America was willing to charter the Soviet monster aircraft like An-124 An-224, and Mi-26.

To fight the pandemic, the Antonovs were put to service again…

To clear out Bagram, again they found business.

To evacuate Afghans… the Globemasters are doing their best, but could you use the Antonov?

Well they could be some excuse about Antonovs being foreign and it's difficult to get hold off.

But really, they don't need Antonovs when they have C5 Galaxy.

It maybe something to to with runway. I don't know. Buy as siege said earlier. The whole thing is a train wreck.

Makes you wonder how many of the 300k Afghan government army the Americans have been training and equipping were actually Taliban all along. It would not surprise me at all if the Taliban flag raisers and others sporting full American military gear appearing all over social media look incredibly familiar to western trainers and instructors who just fled Afghanistan.

In which case the Taliban have placed a masterful long game of agreeing a simmering down of hostilities with American forces while sending its own fighters to be trained and equipped by the Americans with near zero risk of having to fight their own side since nobody was supposed to be fighting. Since Taliban fighters would have been unusually skilled and motivated, odds are good they would be selected for special forces training to form the new elite if the Afghan army.

That could be a core reason for the swift and comprehensive collapse of the Afghan national army if most of their best units were Taliban all along, who probably Order 66’d any unit members loyal to the Afghan government as soon as they were out in the field and out of sight of foreigners to develop pure Taliban squads.

The rest where just glorified mall security guards with zero motivation to stand and fight.
