There are zillions of ways for Japan to smuggle rare earth for its military from 3rd countries.

If China wanted to "stop japan's military expansion", using RE is not the way. They would have done military blockade and start bombing military factories.

RE ban is a pressure tactic. Just make it harder for Japan to get RE but nit impossible
This thing with Rare Earths has been going since 2010 when the said that they were going to extract from the sea, so looks like they have no luck. The problem it seems, is that you can get a bit here and a bit there, but getting a lot of it is becoming the problem. A lot of Japan companies involved in military production are also industry heavy weights, like Mitsubishi, they can't sacrifice their main business for smuggling paltry amount minerals for military production who account to a single digit in their revenues and getting banned in their main business. That is why the industry is advocating for talks.

Somehow the more I see this kind of person the more sick of them I become, oh how I await the day this pig finally faces her down fall because see her strut around like princess when other people suffer the consequences of her actions with her oblivious to the whole situation really does make me wish for something painful to happen to them even if it is just her falling over and breaking her arse bone, would really make her at least realise that the world isn't just sun shine and rainbows and that she can continue to fall upwards

Supposedly Canada has chosen TKMS for their submarine project over South Korea

Asian debuff makes it hard for US puppets to enter the NA market
Nah asian debuff is just an excuse by koreans to make themselves feel better.

The Korean submarine wasn't even designed for Arctic operations. Which is kinda important for Canada.

Also their marketing was wack, they were marketing on youtube and on billboards on Ottowa.
It might work for third world countries, but to people in developed countries it feels gross.
It just shows their desperation and how little confidence they actually had in their actual submarine.

Their quality and performance is also highly suspect after the experiences of Indonesia.
Comparitively TKMS is used by countries around the world with countless repeat customers.
South Korea also had a submarine fire recently which killed a woman.

In my opinion, Korea needed to underbid Germany by at least 50% to have a real chance.
But they got greedy. Everyone knows Korean shipbuilding costs are much cheaper than europe; if you don't pass it on, it is obvious Hanwha is pocketing it, and that leaves a really bad taste in the mouth.

Also their industrial offset was also not really genuine, and Canada has bad experiences with Korean automakers.
Germany's Industrial offsets on the other hand are much more synergistic with the Canadian economy and just much more well thought out and sustainable.

Everyone says delivery timeline, but really, after Norway and Germany gave up their slots on the slipway Korea was cooked and had no advantage.

Korea's "Delivery advantage" is just the result of noone wanting their submarines, and having an empty orderbook. Meanwhile Germany's "Shipbuilding Disadvantage" is just due to the fact that they make the best conventional submarines on the planet and are suffering from success. They are addressing this by the way, by expanding their shipyards so even this will be addressed.

The winners of this are Canadians; their politicians saw through the marketing and chose the better submarine. They also handily used the Koreans masterfully to extract maximum economic benefits and early deliveries from TKMS. Honestly the best negotiations for an arms deal I have ever seen, even better than Finland's F-35 deal. Carney's skills at work I guess.

The South Korea submarines were just a offshoot of TKMS' Type 214 design, developed with massive German assistance. Thus, in the end, the entire competition is just around the same basic design but built by different manufacturers. Why not just get the submarines from the source? SK knows this, hence they offered a large array of ground weapon technology transfers to try to sweeten the deal.

Not even the same design; the Type 214 is a downgraded export version which has cutting edge tech omitted.

Buying TKMS is like buying an E-class from Mercedes directly.
Buying Hanwha is like buying a copy of an A-class from a roadside mechanic with an extra row of seats and a rocket launcher.
