That would be a bad idea when the issue right now is the race for tech. A conflict would cost lives and resources. Even if successful in taking those places, they would become a big ball and chain in such a hypothetical scenario due to insurgency, and the fact they are less developed, meaning they will be an economic drag on the economy (unless you ignore them and leave them less developed but that could breed more resentment and fuel insurgency). Time and resources would need to be spent on developing them, which is time and resources diverted from taking the lead in technology. The incorporation of such areas would also put other neighboring countries even more on their guard and feed the narrative of China being expansionist and bent on world conquest.

Even to this day, East Germany is still poorer than the west part and as a result is more resentful, xenophobic and votes hard right wing. A lot of them suffer from Ostalgie and feel angry they don't have things back in the good old days.

Dealing with a less developed region especially of a different ethnic group is tricky for any government. Endless government handouts and benefits may lead to dependence and never being able to stand on their own two feet, while creating resentment in the rest of the country over these people getting “unfair” benefits. However if you open the field to ruthless competition, the locals of these areas are likely to be swept aside by the more experienced competitors from developed regions. This can create resentment in the locals who then see themselves becoming a disadvantaged second class within their own homeland.

based on the article Vietnam is doing the opposite. They are copying China, not because China made them, but because China has demonstrated the efficacy of the Chinese governance model. That's real soft power. I never want to fucking hear 1 more word about soft power anymore, I will just link this article forever.

Note that the US governance model has only been copied by force (Philippines) or by very low income countries with historical ties (Liberia).
The U.S. via its high priest Curtis yarvin has even advocated for more Chinese style one party governance, to say nothing of their blatant attempt of cop Chinese industrial policy.

under this pretext I advocate that China take Australia and New Zealand given their resources and strategic location are no less than Greenland‘s.

re Trumps threat against columbia, remember that it was Columbia which ppushed for prosecuting Israel, not unlike US attacks on South Africa for its Israel condemnation. The U.S. is basically Israel‘s bagman. If the Russians were more capable, they too should become china’s bagman.

I think Trump is doing it for more psychological and petty reasons than a rational analysis of Machado's prospects. Trump historically is known to be incredibly petty, vindictive, and sexist. He surrounds himself with incompetents because he hates anyone with competence, since they make him look bad or take the limelight off himself. His refusal to listen to good advice means anyone competent gets frustrated and leaves (or Trump fires them). His sexism means he hates potentially competent women even more. In Trump's entire life, he has treated women as basically trophy wives, sex toys, or servants/tools, and has never tolerated them in positions of power, instead calling them "nasty" (i.e. his codeword for any woman that threatens his self-image and ego). That is why he has always been so crass and vehemently opposed to any female politician that is anything other than a spineless lackey, and especially anyone that is not white. That is why he was so crass when facing Hilary Clinton and Kamala Harris. They threatened his ego, and Kamala also offended by not being white.

Finally, anyone that has dealt with Trump before has come back saying he is petty and vindictive. He probably hates Machado for getting the Nobel Peace Prize he has coveted and therefore wants to take revenge in any fashion, such as by ostracizing and humiliating her.

Note that Trump himself may not be self-aware of these above reasons since he is a malignant narcissist and they are known to lack self-reflection even while being self-centered. He may only be self-aware to the point he realizes he dislikes Machado and therefore seeks to humiliate and destroy her, since that is what narcissists do to anyone they dislike.

I think it is just that Trump doesn't want to nation building, for obvious reason. If he made a deal with current Venezuela leader then it makes great sense to preserve the current power structure as long as they give him what he wants, namely the rights to Venezuelan oil fields and kick out Chinese investments.

I would guess even Maduro himself was willing to make such a deal, but Trump and Rubio probably had too much of a hate boner on the man, as you said these guys are petty as fuck.

In the long run I doubt they'll reap the benefit they imagined. Global oil price is on downward trend and Venezuelan oil is not the best quality stuff to begin with. Trump is just fixated on oil because he is a fucking dinosaur, renewable energy probably sounds gay to him.

This is just a desperate thief looking for easy target and Venezuela happens to be very easy. It doesn't stop the brainless MAGA proclaiming "Unipolar world is back hur dur" though. As if it is a great military achievement to extract a person when you've made a deal with the incumbent leaders LMAO

A Special Tree-planting Operation to Mongolia.

We'll flood their mines with electric heavy-duty trucks, blanket the wasteland with solar panels, wind fams and datacenter, and then aggressively plant grass and trees.

Mongolia will be reduced to a powerless vassal state that can only sell minerals, sheep, electricity, and computing power.

HOW EVIL
