Lawrence Wong have clearly forgotten what Japan did to SEA in WW2. His "Minister Mentor", Lee Hsien Loong is definitely somewhere in the background, teaching him these nonsense.

Since Lee Hsien Loong came to power, I have noticed that Singapore had been leaning increasingly towards an anti-China tilt. Singapore have been working hard to try to recruit other nations to balance China. Whether it's the US, Japan, or India. Lee Hsien Loong have been very bullish on Japan and India. When LHL was PM and negotiating with Malaysia on the HSR project, Singapore had insisted to use the Shinkansen instead of the Chinese HSR system. His family has plenty of shares in Temasek. And Temasek had invested big in India. Such as investing in that scam e-bike company, Ola.

I think a day might come where Singapore could face a diplomatic crisis with China. China could then test their true position. I think Singapore might try to stand up to China and show it's true colours, and then absolutely regret it later.

I don't think most Japanese know how close they are on a path to war with China. They are lucky that mainland China is ruled by the CPC. If they would willingly go to war with China over Taiwan, it'll be the last one for the Japan that they know.

The way I see it is that the Japanese people are extremely insular and extremely politically disinterested. This combination means that they'll usually know nothing about what's going on or how it impacts the rest of the world, so asking their opinion is a bit like warning people who don't know better about the dangers of dihydrogen monoxide.

If they hear that their prime minister is being verbally attacked, of course they're going to be shocked. And if asked if they support her, of they would! They have no tools for even considering the issues, so how else can they respond. At the same time, because of their insularity, the Japanese people aren't going to know very much about China, and most of their impressions are going to be very out of date. And so they're going to assume that any Japanese response will come with repercussions so where's the harm in any of that? Compare and contrast this with how Japanese diplomats are scrambling to even get meetings with their Chinese counterparts!

I don't think there's any chance of any war between China and Japan. The countries are far enough apart, and neither is interested in anything like that. That said, China is very eager to express their displeasure right now, so we can expect the PLA to start wearing the JSDF down with incessant patrols and penetrations of airspace. Japan is going to really hate the idea of Freedom of Navigation!

On the economic front, Japan is especially weak from all of their ongoing messes. Their one saving grace is probably the auto industry, but this is also the industry most vulnerable to Chinese actions. For China, this is basically a godsend because they're given free reign to bully an American ally who has decided this is a great time to have no friends.

Almost guaranteed to be very painful and full of crying for these pansies who have gotten away in lala land for far too long. Also hoping that the USA suffers by proxy for letting these bastards been in Lala land for this long

Which is exactly why China response has to be heavy. Contrary to some people that there are “bigger fish” to deal with than Japan. If China does not response properly to Japan crossing the red line. Then it will set a precedent to US-Aligned countries that the Taiwan redline can be crossed with impunity. The salami slicing starts slowly and ends with the US officially crossing it.

Right. He should just abolish Total Defence Day and pretend the Sook Ching massacre never happened if he wanted to appease the Japanese so much.

Why do our politicians feel the need to publicly insert themselves into these conversations is beyond me. He could have said all this in private without looking like a complete fool.

That's the same thing happening in the West and India. A misinformed population listening to their leaders and giving their support for war. Unfortunately their ignorance have led to conflicts and wars. The reason why war between Japan and China is unlikely is because most of the Taiwanese populace are learning the lessons of Ukraine. They are not stupid enough to start a war to benefit Uncle Sam.

My hope is that this confrontation between China and Japan would push the Japanese people to get curious about China. Similar to what happened with the Americans and the Taiwanese. Some influencers got curious, visits China, and then opens some eyes.

Singapore will stand with the United States without hesitation because they know that the United States really will blow that tiny place to rubble! Singapore knows that China has absolutely no motivation to do so, or rather, China has a moral fastidiousness about doing such a thing.
