Germany takes over NATO?

Some imbeciles really think other people are easily gaslighted idiots.

This makes China's program of poverty alleviation even more impressive.

MOFCOM is weighing in on the Japan issue, saying Japan cannot attempt to profit from China while hurting the feeling of the Chinese people. Best correct their action post haste.

MOFCOM might be about to play one of their big cards soon.
Personally I hope Japan never backs down, an openly hostile Japan that gets taken care of is much more preferable than pretending Japan is a normal country that deserve a seat at the table of civilization.

Their second biggest export market is China, at around 19% vs the US 21%. (

) If China enacted tariffs similar to Trump on the primary exports from Japan, namely industrial machines and machine tools, robotics and integrated circuits (all sectors that China is trying to develop self sufficiency in) then Japan would get tag teamed on both ends by their two largest export partners. Their only play would be to try to devalue the yen even more (lol) and result in their population being able to barely feed themselves at that point whilst getting paid in yen and depending on expensive imports of food and energy. Plus, China can just use Trump's playbook and say "Japan was taking advantage of China through trade". China may lose out on trade selling to Japan when they retaliate, but the overall impact is significantly more painful for them. Also, WTO can't do jack shit because they're paralyzed from Trump's dual attack with the blocking of judges and withholding financial contributions.

Btw, here's an article from earlier this year from a Japanese publication saying they can weather some pain from the US tariffs due to increased demand from China. Good luck with that now, lol.

Also, regarding potential use of RE restrictions on Japan. Here's a FP article all but warning China not to do it because "it will hurt China". Best way to respond to western criticism or advice? Do the complete opposite of what they say.

Japan imports more from China than its exports to China.

Also Wingtech specifically said the Dutch owes them $100M, that need to be addressed.

China banned chip export specifically to prevent anyone else from getting similar ideas, so any outcome that sees Netherlands end up with anything more than what they started with goes against this purpose. The only question is how far will China go to punish the Dutch for it.
Clearly the Chinese has yet to push the Dutch hard enough. The Chinese CEO has yet to be reinstated. And as you said, Nexperia probably owns Wingtech tons of unpaid wages and fees.

Yes, but the overall impact to Japan would be greater. Both countries have similar exports as part of GDP% at ~ 20%, with Japan being slightly higher. But China comprises 19% of Japan's total exports whereas Japan comprises 4.3% of China's total exports. Also, where will Japan find a better price-to-quality point compared to imports from China? If they try to retaliate too hard, it would just exacerbate their now very precarious cost of living crisis. Chinese reduction of Japanese imports might mean a reduction in quality and/or technology level when trying to source from local vendors, but make no mistake, whatever Japan can make, China can also make, even if at lowered capability. This is also a gap that is diminishing by the day. The only possible sector that Japan still has a sizable edge in is advanced materials. Hopefully there is some domestic plan in China to tackle this.

China is Wal-mart, Japan is a regional boutique chain. Wal-mart always wins in the end. There is no replacement for scale.
