Her approval will keep on rising the more actions China takes cause of long term hatred Japanese have for Chinese. The more aggressive she is the more popular she will be. This will only change when Japanese are actually losing cities in fire bombs, not before that. Over many decades China can overpower Japan without a war with economic measures, and make Japanese see the light, but that will take a long time.

People said the same about the DPP, but look now. It's too early to make any conclusions, and IMO China's rhetoric is more aimed at the domestic audience than to Japan. Japan is simply starting to go through what Taiwan had started going through a few years back, and the US/Europe are getting ready to start - - they're diminishing powers who are no longer sure of their place in the world.

The power balance have always been changing, but for many it's reaching a point where quantitative changes are becoming qualitative changes. As big of a blow the Plaza Accord was to Japan, its place in the American-led world order did not change as the world order remained American led and it remained the top lieutenant of thr US in Asia. Its purpose was clear, if anything clearer after the Plaza Accord.

Now, however, with Trump's detente with Xi and his clear and consistent consideration to focus more on matters closer to home, even if not everyone in his admin is in agreement, represents a big change to Japan. Will America retreat from East Asia and therefore no longer need a lieutenant there? Will there even be an order led by America? This is an existential question for Japanese institutions as we know it since the Cold War.

Japan needs a new identity in a changing world. Right now IMO it's just drifting in the wind. The LDP is under pressure due to losing conservative votes to the right wing parties. It's now drifting right for nothing more than immediate political urgencies. When the inevitable left wing blow back comes, things could shift rapidly in another direction.

China's best course of option is just make its own stance clear and then wait. Let the Western-aligned nations figure out their own place in due time, counter punch only when punched. Societies take time to change, and monumental shifts like these will take at least a generation to settle.

No amount of copium can change the fact that the US still cannot launch a fifth-gen. fighter with their EMALS.

Those who instigated the Iraq War and brought disaster to the US regime have forgotten their lessons and are at it again. I can't wait for the US to invade Venezuela.

Ridiculous tone deafness:
