Lolwut the US is announcing, this is one of those "bring out your manager I want to speak to him" moment.
This is where the Dutch making up a whole bunch of excuses really screwed things up lol. Now its gonna be super awkward if US tells Netherlands the BIS 50% rules gone you can give everything back and the Dutch have to walk back all their other reasons.

Didn't participate in the immediate post-deal discussion, but I guess now as always it seems the reaction is par for the course. Both sides back to square one and some major concessions from Trump side, but extremists consider it loss for a China since it didn't choose to ride roughshod over the US like the rohirrim over orcs. Neither side can afford to do that to one another, that's just reality.

But considering how the US approached the trade war in 2019 to how it approached it now, it is a categorical statement on how much China's power has grown since then even with the pandemic. Most of the global press have gleened that lesson and I'll just post it here for reference.

Well, payment will presumably be made on RMB to Nexperia China, as per the previous conditions for European sales.

It also means Nexperia Europe has to restart wafer shipments to Nexperia China, otherwise there's nothing to sell.

If Nexperia China becomes separate, then they get to keep the money after receiving the wafers from Europe for *free*.

That would go some way towards compensation.

Where were all the right-wing anti-Chinese protestors in South Korea to Xi Jinping’s visit? Wouldn’t this have been a perfect time and opportunity? The fact is it’s more about sucking up to the US and Trump so actually trying to disrupt the summit doesn’t serve South Korea’s economic interests. It’s just like how South Korea is still trying to get K-Pop access to China. If it was so precious, wouldn’t they want to deny access of their treasure to the Chinese? If they were political zealots like you find in the West, they wouldn’t see that line.

And Wingtech doesn’t have to pay severance to European workers and pay for the fab closures.
