Congratulation to KMT's new chairwoman - she was a member of the DPP 20 years ago, and she is the only KMT candidate who openly admits that she is Chinese.

DPP are Japanese-wannabes. Some (many?) of them are descendants of Japanese colonial settlers who had no means to return at end of WW2, stayed back in Taiwan, and changed to Chinese names. Should DPP ever succeed in creating Republic of Taiwan, first thing they'll do is to be absorbed into a military alliance with the US, and second thing is to seek a federation/commonwealth with Japan.

KMT are 华独: They identify as Chinese, but they want to run Taiwan as a separate country known as Republic of China. Pro-unification KMTers are marginalized.

Asian values!

:D

Regarding Asian Values.

Talking about related stuff., suddenly triggered some memories of the past.

Asian Values is not a term that I have come across in a long time. In the past, it was in usage, but it faded away. Asian Values did not fade away, but usage of that term faded in the English language.

Why did people stop talking about Asian Values? I noticed it, that people stop talking about it, but that during the time of the rise of China, which of course, was the originator of these Asian Values.

1. What are Asian Values? A brief summary below.

As we can see, it is kind of diametrically opposed to Western Values in some respects.

That makes it interesting.

2. Never realized this, until yesterday, but I think this is true, and would explain a lot of hostility from the West towards China.

First there is this Asian Values, which is the foundation for the success of much of the populations of East Asia and South East Asia, as there are not many Liberals and Western states there. The success of these societies with Asian Values cast shade on those Western Values, in that there is another way that is better for some people. It discredits the claimed universalism of Western Values.

So right off the bat, the West does not like China and Asian Values because it discredits Western claims of the universalism of their Western Values.

But, I think there is more. Who is the CCP? They are the Communist Party of China! What does that mean? That means they are hardcore Marxist-Leninist!

And what does Marxist-Leninist want to do? Overthrow society, which is the Liberal order. Haha!

So in effect, if Marxist-Leninism succeeds in China, it kind of points to the doom of Western Values and how they organize their society. That is what Marx kind of predicted, and if it actually works in China, then what does that mean for the Western societies, of which Marx based his predictions on? Ha!

To conclude again, the West hates China because of Asian Values, which in many respects is opposed to Western Values, and they hate the Marxist-Leninism, because if it works, then it could trigger an upheaval that overthrows the society, which now is based on Liberal Values, hence if Marxism succeeds it can be a real threat to Western Values as we know it today.

There is only one China, but it of itself challenges the West in two ways, with Asian Values, and the Marxist-Engles-Lenin-Stalin-Mao_Zedong thought.

:D

That was why they hated Obama, because he seemed like a Marxist/socialist type of guy.

I agree, Barry was kind of like a Marxist/socialist kind of guy.

My take on the West's hostility towards China is that it stems from a deeply held belief in neoliberalism. Neoliberalism tells us that the Western systems of everything, from governement to economy to education to military, are the best, and that doing it any other way is wrong. China doesn't subscribe to using Western systems but is still successful, and that's not possible so they have to be cheating somehow; either by faking the numbers or by stealing from the West.

Notice how the American political system is ridiculously polarized right now. They can't agree on anything except that China is bad, and that anything China does is automatically bad.

i dont think there's any really sophisticated reason. i think its lizardbrain shit of saying whatever you think gets you the best chances in life. when it looks like success in life is a matter of winning the contest to be the most racist person, you're gonna get just that. im sure everyone has noticed that a lot of the most survivable people are the least principled -- aka, opportunists. they're quick to change their tune to whatever the new rules are.
we live at the mercy of our environment, and most people live in response to the moment. their jobs, their friends, and most importantly, their family, whether its a matter of finding a partner or raising their children -- that's what dictates what people will fight for. all the reasoning comes afterwards to justify it, and let me emphasize the order: the sophistry comes afterwards.

if you're an american, you're not going to see a good way forward in a rising china. they speak an impossible language that you never even thought of learning. there's no future there for you; it's going to make you double down and deny. and its also why pro-chinese westerners are invariably ones who already have, or at least believe they have, the tools for success in china.

Arrow Electronics says that US trade curbs on its Chinese affiliates are being reversed
U.S.-based electronic components distributor Arrow Electronics (ARW.N), opens new tab said on Saturday the U.S. government was reversing trade restrictions placed on Arrow's China-based affiliates for facilitating the sale of U.S. components found in weaponized drones used by Iran-backed groups like the Houthis.
Arrow (China) Electronics Trading Co and another Arrow entity with six aliases in Hong Kong were added to the Commerce Department's Entity List on October 8 in a Federal Register posting.

He says that China seizing western assets would cause capital flight. How does capital flight happen when you can't move money without permission?
It is funny these people think Chinese debt is an issue. When all the debt is internal and much smaller than in the US or other Western countries. I always laugh when they compare total Chinese debt, state, commercial, and private with just US state debt.
The banks in China are all government owned anyway. The government can just erase the debt with the stroke of a pen whenever they want. This is definitively not the case in either Japan or the US.
