The west doesn’t have next gen tech because Chinese hackers stole it! They are just demanding it back!
The EU is truly either award winningly retard, or acting that way on behest of the Americans to force a trade war between China and the EU so that the EU will be fighting together with the Americans against China.
But in the end, I don’t think it will matter much what their intentions are, since the end result will be the same.
What China needs to do now is proactively work towards the shattering of the EU. Destroy it as a viable entity and revert back to individual state level agreements with uncompromised European states still able to act rationally in their own self interests and fuck the died hard American slave states hard.
The easiest way to start this process is to wait for the EU to pass their retarded forced tech transfer order and then go to individual EU states and give them a simple choice. Comply with the EU directive and see all Chinese investments end as well as reciprocal measures taken against all their companies of turning over everything China wants or those companies are banned from the Chinese market and supply chains. Sign a mutual respect and economic non-aggression pact with a few friendly EU nations first, where both sides agree to ignore the new EU dictate and continue as before, and watch the Dominos fall.

1.27 million tons of gutter oil imported from China to USA last year. Yes actual gutter oil, it may be a waste product but industrially it's much much cleaner than crude oil as feedstock.
In this case it is actually a case of "how could Joe Biden let this happen?" Under Biden government's Inflation Reduction Act they had a program to encourage Sustainable Aviation Fuel:
Because of this scheme, gutter oil's demand was so high that people were even diluting gutter oil with actual fresh palm oil (as in, food grade never used in cooking) just to get that sweet sweet tax credit.
