Thousands of US-bound vehicles are now sitting idle at Belgium’s Port of Antwerp-Bruges, as Donald Trump’s latest tariffs hurt transatlantic car exports. The port, one of Europe’s busiest for vehicle shipments, is now 80–85% full.
Since Trump’s new 25% tariffs took effect in April, car and van exports from Antwerp-Bruges to the US have fallen by 14.3%. Shipments of larger vehicles, including trucks and tractors, are down by more than 31%.
Brussels is pushing Washington to drop its now 27.5% tariff, up from 2.5% before Trump took office, while the EU had its 10% duty on US vehicles.
