Me: Didn't I see this chick before? Yeah, she looks familiar. Where did I see her from.... Oh shit! She was in those videos-
Wife: What videos?
Me: What?! N-no nothing.
Wife: What videos was she in? Can I see?
Me: No nothing. I didn't say anything. I'm mistaken, wasn't her.
Wife: But what videos were you thinking about? What kinds of videos do you like to watch? We can open them up to confirm if it was or wasn't her.
Me: Let's drop this; this topic is stupid. Let's go get some ice cream, bubble tea, try that that Dongbei bbq you were talking about, whatever you fancy.
"Japanese reality show" - my go to. Instantly causes a headache to those that try thinking about one, like a Jim Carrey movie, and then they move on and forget the conversation ever happened.

Is this news legit?

These days, many Douyin accounts are spreading messages that US special forces have been permanently deployed to Kinmen Island, 6 miles away from mainland China.

Countless liberals are celebrating in the comment section, saying things like "Come to save me", or "Send B-2".

Under the 2023 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), U.S. Army Special Forces—specifically Green Berets from the 1st Special Forces Group, 2nd Battalion, Alpha Company—have been stationed at Taiwanese Army amphibious command centers in Kinmen and Penghu. This deployment represents the first enduring U.S. military presence on the island in over four decades.

Someone should report those comments to Douyin moderators for further investigation.

South Korea has announced a landmark reform to end all private overseas adoptions, following revelations of abuse and fraud spanning decades. One of those adopted, Kara Shroeder, was born in South Korea, but taken in by a U.S. family in 1976 when she was less than a year old. Over the past decade, she has relentlessly searched for her birth family. But despite her best efforts, she has not been successful. Her adoption record states that she was abandoned by her birth parents – a claim she believes may not be the full story. Kara spoke to CGTN to share her story.

France handed over its last two military facilities in Senegal to local authorities on Thursday, marking the end of its permanent military presence in the West African country.

Camp Geille, the largest French military installation in Senegal, located in the capital Dakar, and the French air detachment at Dakar's international airport were officially transferred to the Senegalese state at a ceremony attended by Mbaye Cisse, chief of General Staff of the Senegalese Armed Forces, and Pascal Ianni, commander of French forces in Africa

What the hell are they collecting blood samples in a Taiwanese university for?

A sports coach at a Taiwanese university has issued a formal apology over a research project that allegedly involved her coercing students into giving blood, according to local media.

Chou Tai-ying, 61, said that her intention was to help her team "because I had only a few players and they were often injured", but it is not known exactly what the blood was being taken for.

A Taiwanese politician, Chen Pei-yu, brought the case to light in 2024, alleging students were told that they would lose academic credits if they did not take part.

An internal investigation at National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) in Taipei later found the blood sampling had started in 2019 and continued into 2024 for different "research projects".

Death toll in Vietnamese boat capsize disaster had risen to 35.

The government said rescuers had managed to retrieve the sunken boat and revised down the death toll to 35 from an initial 38 on Saturday, while cutting an estimate of those aboard to 49 from 53, though officials fear the toll could still rise.
All the tourists aboard were Vietnamese, including several children, the official Vietnam News Agency said.

The accident happened in Ha Long Bay, a very popular tourist spot. I've been there before too. Usually safe, but tragedies can happen too.
The accident was one of the worst in recent years in the UNESCO-protected archipelago of thousands of limestone islands about 200 km (125 miles) northeast of Hanoi, which draws tens of thousands of visitors each year.

Thousands of US-bound vehicles are now sitting idle at Belgium’s Port of Antwerp-Bruges, as Donald Trump’s latest tariffs hurt transatlantic car exports. The port, one of Europe’s busiest for vehicle shipments, is now 80–85% full.

Since Trump’s new 25% tariffs took effect in April, car and van exports from Antwerp-Bruges to the US have fallen by 14.3%. Shipments of larger vehicles, including trucks and tractors, are down by more than 31%.

Brussels is pushing Washington to drop its now 27.5% tariff, up from 2.5% before Trump took office, while the EU had its 10% duty on US vehicles.
....
RIA Novosti: Wall Street Journal reported yesterday that China threatens to block the sale of dozens of ports to western companies if Cosco, a Chinese shipping company, doesn’t get a stake. Do you have any comment?

Lin Jian: I’m not aware of what you mentioned. On CK Hutchison’s sales of its assets overseas, the State Administration for Market Regulation said that they would conduct a review in accordance with the law to protect fair market competition and safeguard public interests.

Let me reiterate that China firmly opposes using economic coercion, intimidation and bullying to violate and undermine other countries’ legitimate rights and interests.
.....

A justice of Brazil's Supreme Federal Court on Friday decided to impose strict legal restrictions on former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro and his son Eduardo Bolsonaro for coercion, obstruction of justice, and attack on national sovereignty.
