They also agreed and signed the 400bn agreement, did you see any implementation? They even gave their port to Indians lol

Maybe a few more Israel and US bombs will teach them to honor their agreements next time because right now their words and promises have like negative value. The more they promise, the more I distrust them
Honestly its been rather disappointing to see Iran act a lot like India. At least India can say its been held back by old religious dogma, foreign invasions, incompatibility with a lot of states, shameful history, low levels of education etc. Iran doesn't have the same level of excuses to be acting like that.

Exactly, they need to demonstrate that they've learned a lesson and go all in with China. That's certainly one of the prerequisites.

So long as nobody sticks up a poster of Jiang... Maybe I was a young contrarian anti-establishment student when I was younger, and it colors my recollections, but during his tenure, I recall that it was not uncommon to need backdoor connections to buy train tickets. I had never seen such corruption before and have never seen such corruption since.

I think that if things had continued in that direction for another decade, China would have fallen to something comparable to the cesspool that is the Indian bureaucracy (although that's not the only cesspool-like thing in India).

One good thing that started during the Jiang era was banning the PLA in being involved in commerical enterprises (like mining, real estate development, hotels are restaurants, etc) in the late 90s. This began the process of separating the PLA from the broader civilian economy that fully ended under Xi in 2016:

If this wasn't done then the PLA could've become like the IRGC which would make it a huge source of corruption and give it more power relative to the party's civilian leadership.

I wish EU good luck with their negotiations with the Trump regime.

I don't think China will expose its real strength before the reunification with Taiwan.

This sounds like wishful thinking to me. Instead of breaking the China-Russia alliance in the Middle East, it's more likely that the US regime will get stuck in another quagmire over there.

Don't tell this to Michael Pettis. He thought building the HSR system was a waste of money for China. He claimed that China should develop its aviation industry like the US did instead. It turns out that HSR system is powered by electricity, and like EVs, it is far less polluting than airliners.

More amazing infrastructures from India:
With a bridge like that, it’s like they want actual looney toon accidents to happen there for clicks

I believe the issue runs deeper than it appears. When I talk to my European and American colleagues, many of them hold strong anti-China views (sometimes borderline racist..). These are highly educated people. Some of the things they say are outright absurd. For example, one of my American colleagues recently claimed that China was trying to smuggle viruses into the U.S. (referring to the researcher case).

In my opinion, for Europeans, it’s more about privilege. They truly seem to believe that if the U.S. loses its global dominance, Europeans will no longer enjoy the same level of control and privilege they have today. Of course, this is just my personal observation/opinion, but I truly think that deep down, many Americans and Europeans want their dominance over the world to last forever and Europeans believe that America has to be the sole superpower for this objective.

Yup, could not agree more.

It is all about that. Then mix in some white supremacy with it, and that is what they believe in. The ruling elite of Canada, is exactly what you described.

Got to admit, some of us here are really enjoying this.

:D:eek:

either way, they should start diversifying away from the US. Maybe finishing their products in other countries to distribute the risk of taffis across Asia.

The Vietnamese did a really smart thing I believe.

Before all this tariff stuff started, they signed big deals with the Chinese, including building a high speed rail link in Vietnam.

After all those deals were signed, then they went to negotiate with Team America.

That is not working out with President Trump in charge, so it was good they got something that will stimulate the economy with the big ticket infrastructure spending.

Other countries, had no plan at all.

:p
