I wonder why it's so hard for China to find a dozen people good at football. Is the sports culture in China significantly different from neighboring countries like Japan and South Korea? They have significantly higher FIFA rankings compared to China and SK and Japan have been qualifying for every world cup since 1986 and 1998.
Japan wasn't always good. But they analysed what worked and what didnt. They spent decades building up local talent. Today is a product of that hard work.

China on the other hand never figured it out. They tried hiring foreigners who were rejects elsewhere and we know that doesn't work but costs a lot. But we can see the vast majority of Chinese players flat out suck. I believe the selection process is completely wrong and needs to replaced entirely. Fun fact, Wu Lei who is the star striker and the only good player imo wouldn't have even gotten in the team coz he wasn't tall enough and had to get a special recommendation. He also played in Spain for a while while most Chinese players never left China.

Team sport infrastructure is a different beast from single sport. It has to be good or you will fail. You can't rely on a single genius to mask it like how even though MMA ain't big in China, Zhang Weili is currently a UFC champ.

What is China doing differently with their Women's team? Women's team seems to be good. They are ranked number 17, even higher than South Korea.

It's less competitive. However it stills blows a hole in westoid arguments like China is commie or hates freedom so their players can't work as a team.

One thing I recall though is they used to have former Chinese female football player who had a silver medal at the Olympics. All the female player really respected her and followed all her commands even when things were tough. They best Japan to win an Asian cup, something not done in years. Japan in female football is near the top.

Female players don't quit. Current male players quit as soon as they see toughness. Notice how the male Chinese football team usually has zero goals when they lose? I also noticed that they tend to foul a lot and get carded a lot. Sometimes sent off. Considering fouling can lead to penalties that lead to losing like today's game, that's bad. Act so tough on the pitch yet not brave enough to attack where it actually counts in the game.

Just writing this is getting me angry.

Xi did ask unitree recently if robots can play for the national football team.

Unlike guys like Modi, Xi isn't afraid to admit the national football team sucks ass. It really is a dream to see the day they stop sucking.

You can tell that Xi is probably the most merciful of the major world leaders. If he were a butcher like MSM painted him as he would’ve executed the men’s soccer team via DF-17s.

Hi Guys, it's your daily dose of NGAD shenanigan brought to you by the cope zone.
I remember TWZ was touting the F/A XX plan would have been released within a week at some point during the past few months.

If true it’s a power move. The west has been sanctioning anything Xinjiang, now that it is in the name of the company, I wonder if the whole genocide narrative will still be in play, since you can’t be buying from a company in Xinjiang because of the narrative.

Will self interest of the west win out and prove their hypocrisy or will they stand their ground and go down with the ship.

I know this belongs in the sports thread but I will post the short version here while the more detailed version is in the sports thread. China played Indonesia in football today and lost 0-1. That means they are out of qualifying for the world cup next year.

Just fugging frustrating to watch. Can solve semiconductor and Ai but completely lost on how to develop a system to have a semi competent football team.
Some people joked that it was precisely because this football team was sacrificed that China had a better national fortune.
