Winning would mean working together with the next biggest economically and technologically advanced country to usher in a new era of prosperity.

I can't even with my government sometimes.

That would be the sane, humane, sensible, dare I say ... socialist way lol. The world isn't ruled by nice people or smart people. It's ruled by cunning lawyers and professional liars or nutjob religious morons. Well at least the west is nowadays.

BTW being religious doesn't mean you are a moron although it very fucking often does. There is just a world of difference between a person who cultivates themselves and doesn't feel any need to force their beliefs on others. Many states are governed by pure lunacy and it ain't the PRC.

LOL IMAGINE IF CHINA SAID China was out to win the 21st century. People would go batshit crazy
Americans are becoming increasingly angry and insecure about their country losing wealth, power and influence. Rather than doing a introspection to look what went wrong they are now lashing out against their biggest competitor which at this moment happens to be China.

This is in my view counterproductive as the biggest threat to America's pre-eminence abroad and Americans well being at home is not China but their own domestic problems that they are unable to resolve. Problems mainly caused by American domestic policies over the past 3 to 4 decades. And pushing China against the wall will whip up more nationalism in China and it will double down on its industrial, scientific and technological development. Which is exactly the opposite of what you want to achieve.

It doesn't matter what they throw at China they will be on the losing end. Because being tough on China does nothing to stop America from weakening from within.

I interpret the ongoing China demonization as a way to unite Americans. It is a good strategy for the task but it doesn't solve America's other problems.

Think of it this way: to get pass your big spending bills for social and other controversial programs, do you want to frame them as being extreme competition against China or as competing programs against your domestic opposition, in the current environment of the U.S.A.?

Nothing strange with demonizing your opponent in order to "unite" the country.

Take note that "unite" is in quotes because this is only a short-term solution and is not sustainable in the long term

Taiwan has told staffing companies to remove all listings for jobs in China, a drastic move to prevent the outflow of vital tech talent to the mainland amid rising tensions between Taipei and Beijing.
The Labor Ministry said that all Taiwanese and foreign staffing companies on the island as a general rule may no longer post openings for jobs located in China, especially those involving critical industries such as integrated circuits and semiconductors, according to a notice seen by Nikkei Asia.
No respect, And the game continues.

Taiwan is steadily cutting of all ties with China.
First the Name change proposal, then ban the PRC flag, now ban ALL post opening for China work, whats next?

Taiwan is drifting away, away
