300k US is nothing for most people I know in China. Those education nest eggs had been building for 18 years since the kid was born for most families.

I had 5 cousins that came to school for either undergraduate or graduate school in Canada or US. All my aunts and uncles just paid cash for tuition/living allowance. None of them created any financial burden on the family. Now they have all graduated, some have gone back in China for work, and definitely making their education investment back in salary. A couple have stayed here to work, and getting decent pay.

No one believed "Maoism" now. Hell. Mao himself probably don't understand what people call "Maoism" these days.

Regarding India, like plawolf said, you can't predict batshit crazy. And the current Indian government is definitely batshit crazy. Remember, you can't design something fool proof, because you'll fall to their level and there is always a bigger fool.

To Lethe, its funny you say empathy. Because I don't think empathise with crazy is possible. That's why we think its crazy! How can anyone empathise with ISIS or AQ? They are just insane, full stop. And most people in this forum and I'm sure most people with all the information and a clear head would think India is crazy in this situation, so won't be able to empathise with them.
