Also per Chuck Hills blog there is talk of a guided projectile for the 57 mm gun for the coast guard and navy that would be to good to be true

...

But, I will definitely take the Harpoons and the SeaRAM along with other upgrades to sensors and systems they are getting. Basically the COMBATSS-21 is a mini-AEGIS system which will couple the sensors they do have and weapons into a decent combat/battle management system.

Fanta’s directive, in fact, notes that “full integration with the LCS combat system is not required. A stand-alone console or computer terminal capable of consummating an engagement is sufficient for initial fielding.”

That's what I thinking but this new article makes no mention of the NSM at all ahh well there's not much we can do about it at least their getting a good OTH Missile now and some hope of survival when their engines and propulsion breaks down

I believe one report is for the Independence class...the Coronado.

The other report is for the Freedom class, the Ft. Worth.

The very well could be going to try two different types for the two different vessels.

Wouldn't that create a supply problem or is it to see which is the better fit in other words a competition I'm starting to get confused

Ok here's my total uneducated unqualified guess they have already made the decision to go with the harpoon due to ( it's already in the inventory and possible as an offset for the loss of other contracts that we will never know about) now that I've said that it will probably be the NSM that's chosen for the sole purpose of confusing the rest of us one more thing to confuse us in a long list about this program since it started

If I'm also thinking that the version of harpoon will in fact will be missiles already complete and are in fact rebuilt with upgrades to new systems and a lighter warhead thus increasing range and performance
