Littoral Combat Ships (LCS)

That remains to be seen but I've not read or heard of a engine chang

the thing might be "the follow-on frigates" could simply get too heavy for 40+ kn; that's my impression after I had read that article for the second time
another impression: their complement would exceed 100 Sailors

Interesting I thought they were only to have a crew of about 40-50 deems things have changed

I guess this was the plan for LCS, but now
...

So:

1 x 57mm dual purpose main gun
8 x ASMs
2 x 30mm guns
1 x SeaRAM (with 11 missiles)
24 x VL Hellfire (I believe that is the number)
2 x SeaHawk helos or some combo of Seahawka nd VUAV
2 x 7m RHIBs

VDS and TAS standard.

Torpedo deco system standard

and Sailors operating those weapons will have to be permanently on board (and not just part of them in case a single Mission Package was embarked)

So then this might push the Flight zero FF (LCS) to be used differently from the Flight 1 SSC Frigate. Well flight 1 will likely be attached to Carrier and Expeditionary groups. flight 0with there lighter build and higher speeds could become a more specialized platform more independent from such.

"One idea is to use LED lighting instead of fluorescent light bulbs, which Brintzinghoffer said will cost a little more upfront but begin to save money quickly ..."
(quote from the article linked above; I don't know how to quickly pull it)
