Mach 1.8? Nice.

But the FBW.... What's the significant point of it if you can't give input to the rest of the system?

But as for the new wing extension. What's the advantage of the F-18 one over the Fulcrum one?

Re: JF-17: New Pics

f-18s wing roots better than the mig-29s? never. the f-18 and f-16 feature novel lerx roots, but dont use them to the same potential as russias aircraft. the migs intergrated body actually has the roots running ito the body, forming a huge lift surface, while the f-18s just improves wing performance.

As for the FBW, they are trying to make the plane a little less expensive. As you know, Pakistan is going to be aquiring a lot of weapons and the fact that the earthquake hit makes Pakistan's budget even tighter. I can tell you that future blocks of the Thunder will probably incorporate a FBW that is inputed into the rest of the system.

Mach 1.8!

Do they the max speed of JF-17 which were Mach 1.6 is increased to 1.8 after the redesign fuselage? that sound nice!

one problem, i read from some chinese sites that russian provider of the RD-93 doesnt allow china to export its FC-1 (or JF-17) using their RD-93 engines. dunno if china has work this out.

Yeah, i was wondering about the engine too...perhaps someone paid klimov and putin to turn a "blind eye" to whats going on between china and pakistan. after all, money from india is whats really driving this export ban.

i think the entire not exporting to Pakistan thing was just for sure. In reality, I seriously doubt there will be any problems surrounding the turn over of a JF-17 using RD-93 to Pakistan.

Since the aircraft is still in development, I think the performance data will change over time.

There are only a few countries in the world that design and build powerful jet power plants suitable for fighters. Unfortunately this means if you're using someone else's engines, your exports would be restricted by "re-export" license agreements. In case of Pakistan, there's the Indian complication. India is Russia's major arms customer, and I don't think they'd be too happy if the Russians sell RD93 to Pakistan, or allow PRC to re-export them.

Taiwan's IDF, for an example, use TFE1032's and cannot be exported without license agreement from the US.

Re: JF-17: New Pics

Well, China is developing the WS-13, which is suppose to be an improvement on the RD-93 I think. The RD-93 isn't the best engine since it leaves a trail of black smoke.

Then there is the WS-9, which is about the size of the RD also, but no news ever indicated of it being use.

The problem is, China's engine industry isn't good.
