It's more complicated since we operate multiple blocks of Vipers and each block has different kinematics. Block 50 Vipers are overloaded with a lot of extra weight spread over the same wing area. I was just listening to an interview with a Eurofighter pilot, he confirmed that the hardest dogfighter he faced was an early block Viper (compared to late block Vipers, Eagles and Hornets.) So Block III with the upgraded engine may actually match our Block 50/52. However, our early block Vipers are still going to have the best kinematics. In terms of BVR though, the Block III will be far ahead of all our Vipers.

I suspect the Block III will be used for air superiority, since they will be replacing the remaining F-7 "air superiority" squadrons. The Block IIs will retain their multirole, along with our Vipers. Even the Block 50/52 will be multirole, not air superiority, since they have the best payload and range, which is more useful for strike/CAS. Fifty Block IIIs spread over several squadrons, with a dedicated Air Superiority role would be a massive upgrade for the air-to-air potency of the PAF.

What kind of EW and jammers did the PAF get with their BLK52 Vipers? The combat effectiveness of fighters in air combat in this day and age goes so far beyond raw kinetics.

With EW dominance, anything short of 5th gens are in deep trouble as the enemy can make them deaf and blind and kill them in BVR or manoeuvre behind them for easy kills before they even know they are being engaged. That’s what happened to the IAF Mig21, and why their haughty MKIs turned tail and fled, as they would have been slashed as well had they not.

Vipers in air-to-air configuration (even the latest F-16V Block 70) tend to carry the ALQ-131/184 jamming pod on its central pylon (No. 5 station). Pictures of PAF Block 52 Vipers I tend to see carry an external fuel tank there instead, so I'm guessing the integrated ALQ-211 does an adequate enough job at EW/ECM for the PAF.

Interesting, although I am doubtful of just how much the foreign test pilots would have gotten out of the experience.

It is almost impossible that they would have been allowed to really come close to pushing the plane unless they had spent a huge amount of time training in China and being cleared for the JF17 (which I find unlikely).

If CAC wants to give really impressive test flights, it really needs to get a move on with the two-seater JF17, so they can have an experienced and well qualified JF17 pilot really put the plane through its paces with a foreign pilot riding shotgun. With a qualified pilot on board, they would also be able to allow the foreign pilots to try more adventurous maneuvers themselves.
was there not talk of an UAV version of JF-17? if that was in the offing, the back seater can stay on the ground.
