Honestly, there are sooooooo many rumours around - often based first on obscure social media claims and later posted by Reuters -claiming whatever country is interested in the Thunder, close to a deal or already with a signed contract!

IMO most of this is media hype and let us wait until we get official confirmation or - in my case the only thing that truly matters - images are available.

Apparently the Somalia deal was signed late last month, $900 million for 24 Block 3s

Recent satellite imagery suggests that JF-17's production appears to be in full swing.

The question, however, is how many are being produced annually, given that PAC Kamra has a capacity of 24 aircraft per year.

It's been confirmed a while back. Plus this means that PAF only has Block-2s and 3s.


Upgrading the Block-2s to Block-3s wont be happening soon/if ever IMO because of wider air intakes, composite materials, radar cost etc. I'd gladly be proven wrong. Let's see.

Based on the above report, the table has been updated. Effectively, the PAF now operates only Block -IIs/IIIs.

Additionally, based on the report below, the AzAF order has now been confirmed (40 units); accordingly, the table has been updated.
