Time to build more displayed cabinets for them models Jeff.;)
You're right. I need to get glass ones that keeps dust off, and makes it harder for small hands to reach up and inadvertantly break little pieces off.

Yep, and don't forget to add track lighting and a few background display for effect. Something like this:

That's nice. There's someone very into the NASA Space program...maybe even worked for NASA on some or all of those prgrams.

I actually have a 1/72 scale model of the Discovery Shuttle by Revelle. Fully detailed cockpit and crew area, as well as a full detailed cargo bay with a full satellite model and the extender arm.

One day I will put it together in between ships as a break from ship building. I have a number of models standing by for that purpose.

Obi Wan...just for you, I have just received my third vessel of what will ultimately be my UK Carrier Strike Group.

I have:

R06 HMS Illustrious CVL Invincible Class
S93 HMS Triumph SSN Trafalgar Class

and now this little Jewel that just came in on Saturday:

5-110312104258100.jpg

S119 HMS Asutus SSN, Astute Class

Of course, in 1/350 scale by Hobby Boss.

Can't wait to get the Darings, but Airfix keeps pushing back the release date for some reason. Originally it was going to be late last year, then spring this year...now they're saying it may not be until 4th quarter. Dang it! Seems like the pols over there are even negatively impacting and delaying the building and launching of the darned plastic models of the UK Navy vessels now!

Ultimately, I will have the Illustrious, the Daring, the Dragon, the Triumph and the Astute. The Ocean is on my dream list...but I have yet to find a 1/350 scale HMS Ocean anywhere...surprisingly. One day when the FREMMS come out I will have a couple of those too.

Still owrking on the [ur=http://www.jeffhead.com/modelbuilds/US-SSGN726.htm]USS Ohio, SSGN-726[/url]

When she's done, it's back to do the PLAN Haikou DDG-171. Then the USS Enterprise...and so forth, ultimately finishing the PLAN CSG, the US CSG, and then onto the UK CSG.

How long did the Saturn rocket take?
That was not me, that was a post from Equation about another model maker who is clearly into NASA.

As a teenager I did build a Saturn V though, with the Command and LEM modules and it took several weeks. I wasn't nearly as patient or adept then...and did not have the tools either.

Later, it sadly had a massive failure on the launch pad and blew up...hehehe.

LOL...sorry about that gents. That was me sending him a pic as an example of what he could do to put his wonderful works of art with glass doors and lighting. It's from another model maker.
I added some pictures of the area I use to build hte models and place them on shelves...thought some folks might be intetrested:

Recent Additions to the Stash for the CBGs

I have recently purchased two 1/350 scale Type 054A FFGs which just came out last week in China from Trumpeter. They will not be in the US stores until August, but the wonder of the internet and the world-wide market is that I can buy them in China now, and have them shipped here, which I did. It's the same thing I did with the

. That will round out my PLAN CSG centered on that new PLAB Carrier.

I also have pre-ordered two Type 45 Daring Class DDGs in 1/350 scale vessels by AirFix. They will not be available in the UK until August, but I have them pre-ordered so I will get them a month before they arrive for sale here in the states.

Also I added a pre-order for a 1/350 scale Trumpeter Type 23 FFG from the UK. This too will not be available in the States until late August or early September, but I should have it in late July here from China.

These last three will round out my UK CSG based on the HMS Illustrious...though what I am really looking for is a 1/350 scale HMS Queen Elizabeth or Prince of Wales CV which has not been developed or announced yet. I expect AirFix will put those models out eventually.

Anyhow...life rolls on.
