I'm wondering if they do something for real ("18.5 billion yen" Feb 27, 2020 is just for creating the pew! pew! wow! pew! graphics)
No, the 18.5 billion ($180US million) is actually used to only create the actual system.
The various components are budgeted separately like the SCRAM jet engine or the targeting system.

Japanese technical competency doesn't surprise me. They are upgrading to these hypersonics in a response to improving Chinese military ability. To think how nice things could be if China and Japan were not regionally wary of each other to engage in arms races.

Quite respectable to see Japan develop high end military equipment like hypersonic wave riders on its own. I guess these missiles are the new direction for all military nations with the budgets and ability to develop and field them.

Videos detailing the building of my new 1/350 scale JS Shiranui DD-120 JMSDF Asahi class 25DD Type destroyer.

Shiranui DD 120 JMSDF 1/350 Scale Video 1

Shiranui DD 120 JMSDF 1/350 Scale Video 2

There will be two more videos detailing how I put this model together. The model is all Resin and Metals (the railing and a bunch of instruments and other equipment are from two large photo etch metal sheets). These models are supplied/sold by Arts Technique and Pit Road model companies.

And though the Arts Technique/Pit Road Resin model is fairly expensive (over $ 200.00) they are well worth it. Very well built and able to produce a museum class model if you build it carefully. Very detailed, and very good/excellent fits.

BTW, here's a video showing all of my more than 150 models in one video:

Hope you enjoy them.
